I agree, the first movie was ok, but it wasn’t spectacular or memorable, like 28 days later or dawn of the dead.
Sigourney weaver confirmed that there would be an Alien-5 with Ripley in it, sometime during the release of Alien Resurrection.
The “bio engineered” idea sucks. The plot is’nt completely killed though – They could retrace the origins of the space jockey ship to some place where Predators are breeding the Aliens once again etc etc etc The possibilites are limitless but they really need to go back to the derelict ship!
I’d like to see an exploration of the Aliens’ home planet, ala Klendathu.
original plot by ridley scott was the space jockeys created the aliens to fight off another species (the predators)? But this movie just throws that theory away.
Too bad, that would have been an awesome movie!
The dogburster walked on all fours but that’s about it and it had no real doglike features on the lines of the Predator features found on the Predalien. The whole DNA thing makes the concept much less frightening. In fact, it’s plain stupid.
I was hoping that the next Alien movie revealed something about the Spacejockeys. The one on the derelict ship was clearly implanted. Would have been great to have a movie that revealed what exactly happened.
Ridley Scott was contemplating that for Alien 5. I guess if AvP does well at the box office, then we may see an Alien 5.
That bit on the Alien taking a part of the host’s DNA is not appreciated by the community, hence Anderson did a major cockup. If you have a Predalien through merely implanting a Pred, then how about a GorillaAlien, SnakeAlien, RhinoAlien and what the fuk not? 😡
I think it’s quite plausible. Afterall, in alien 3, a dog was impregnated.
Just saw AvsP not as good as the Predator or Alien/Aliens but good for low budget movie, predators kinda looked too bulky i guess they fully armored to fight the aliens. I wont reveal any spoilers but lets just say AvsP2 will have predaliens.
See, that’s my point. It was good/mediocre, but it could’ve been fantastic. A real waste of a good franchise, or two, I should say.
And you believe what they write at AICN do you. Man that site is the biggest pile of no good rubbish ever. The Harry Knowles is so far up his own backside so much of the time. I never believe anything that they write on there. They all hate Anderson anyway so it was always going to be negative from them from the start!!! 😡
Rant over!
Actually, if you took the time to bother reading the review instead of going on your I-hate-Harry-Knowles rant, it was pretty kind towards AvP.
If you prefer a more objective source, rottentomatoes gave AvP a 13% so far.

just ilke the computer games, which were (imo), great storylines, esp. the 2nd one.
Why couldn’t it have been rated R?! That would at least have put some horror back into the movie.
Hey, this is the guy who did Event Horizon, so he has at least some shred of talent hiding in his brain 😀
Have you forgotten Soldier? 😀
This review says that it’s ok, but not kick yo ass mind blowing.
Ooops sorry.
Now here’s a question would you rather be placed on a planet with the bugs or the xenomorphs, I know either way is not good, but……..CHOOSE DAMMIT 😉
Hmm, torn to little shreds by the Arachnids, or implanted by a face hugger? I think I’d rather strangle myself. Game over, man, game over!
You could never real close either franchise, yes you could close certain story lines such as Ripley’s battles with the bugs.
Bugs? This isn’t starship troopers. It’s xenomorphs, man! Use the right term! 🙂
That’s just the way it is. Remember, Alien 3 and Alien 4 kinda sorta both could have ended that franchise, so it’s not like there’s no closure (or 9 DVD box set 😀 ). As it stands right now, the movie tomorrow will be awesome, and when it clears $300 million the movie they better start work on is NOT Alien 5. Bring me Predator 3!
Oh dear, you and your misplaced faith in Mr. Anderson, SOC 🙂 It’s gonna suck like it’s 1994.
What I meant was that if this movie fares poorly at the box office, then the studio execs (and whatever partnership between Ridley Scott and James Cameron) won’t want to proceed with any more sequels.
