The Emperor Overlord tank in China Tank General in Zero Hour is the best tank in the game. That’s the one with two cannons, and you can put a gattling gun on top to mow down the infantry. Sometimes I like to put a Helix helo (Ka-31 helicopter) or an Overlord tank with an armored bunker and put rocket infantry inside so the whole thing ripple fires missiles. For a real sense of anarchy I love those GLA Toxin Tractors.

Hmm.. you play Generals? lol, I never imagined crobato.

Personally, the US’s Specter attack is great.

Austin, many details in the article are the same , sometimes word for word from the Akula page on FAS.
    http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/ship/row/rus/971.htm

so there can be three views on this
    (1) it really is a akula/svero offshoot design using much the
same machinery and design concept from the same bureau, that
sengupta was given some info and pointed to FAS to pickup the
    details
    (2) some kinda elaborate psyops by GoI to see who moves after stone
    thrown into the pond 🙂
    (3) a fishing expedition by using sengupta to see how GoI
responds (recall Sawhney the same guy who claimed no arjuns were being produced is the editor of FORCE).

(1)+(2) with some fudging of real details on (1) is also a possibility and I am inclined to believe that combo concept — for now.

Imo there is a kernel of truth in the article about the weapons fit, ship weight and what its based on, the historical details…but sengupta who apparently also stole Rupak’s IAF article without credit probably had no real details on the powerplant other than a string like “OK-650B” so he stole liberally from FAS.

I dunno, being based on the brand new Yasen class sub, which may or may not even be out yet, seems kind of fishy…

I think they should get Bruce Campbell to play Ripley for Alien 5. 🙂

And there are chestburster scenes. Hell they show the one from Alien on TV even.

    Not broadcast TV. 🙂

Don’t let the PG-13 bother you too much. The main thing that will affect will be the dialogue. Which is fine, since I’m not going to see this for the talking 😀 Besides, if it does bring in a bigger audience and make a cubic assload of money, it’ll greatly help the chances of a Predator 3 or Alien 5. Speaking of Predator 3, check this out:

    http://www.predatorgame.com/us/

As for the movie itself, I think it’ll either make a supreme killing at the box office, or blunder badly for a few weeks a-la Alien 3 (which really was a great movie, especially if you see the Director’s Cut).

Now then, for Predator fans in the USA, the 2-disc Predator DVD comes out on Tuesday (it’s been out in the rest of the world for a while now). Pick it up, it’ll have about 5 hours of bonus stuff on the second disc. Plus, you get a free AVP movie ticket. Not too bad 😎

Back more on-topic, my thoughts on Paul Anderson: Resident Evil looked great, but suffered due to the very boring storyline, bad acting, and asinine CGI. Event Horizon was awesome. Mortal Kombat was just weird. Looking at his track record, he might not have been the greatest guy to make the movie. But, he is one huge AVP fanboy himself, so that has to be a major point in his favor. Also, CGI has been ignored as much as possible in lieu of practical effects to enhance the “believability” and realistic look of everything. Another plus. Third, the Predator in this one doesn’t look like he lost a fight with Mimi from the Drew Carey show like he did in Predator 2. MAJOR plus 😀 All in all I think he’ll do a fine job with this one.

The one negative: the storyline he has developed is not as original as people think it is. When the movie opens, I’ll go through and list all the parts he’s “borrowed” from one place or another 😀 Not that this means the movie will suck, just don’t be suprised if you walk out and go “hey…he got that from…” You might have to be a dedicated fanboy like yours truly to pick up on a lot of it, but so be it.

They’re also limiting screenings to the night before, I imagine so that it will cut down on negative reviews. 🙂

But every other movie in the Alien/Predator series was rated R; making it PG-13 just restricts it too much. That means no chestburster scenes! 😡 What about the scene with the lesbian security woman and the nerdy scientist in the sacrificial chamber? That means no gore, shucks. It would be like Freddy vs. Jason (yes, a horrible movie) but at PG-13, which would make it even worse!

Don’t forget Anderson’s Soldier was pretty horrible as well. And it is a bit terrible that the storyline is basically borrowed from the comic books.

Oops, sorry about the double post.

It has so many things going for it- the cool Alien vs. Predator fighting, of which a clip was released this week. Lance Hendriksen as the original Charles Weyland. Colin Salmon to head the action department. I hope it goes well….

Have to see the village this weekend–I don’t want too be told of the ending.

Best so far: Spiderman 2. good movie.
Worst: Lost in translation was pretty boring, I Was dissapointed. Cold mountain was good, but my wife’s from western NC(less than an hour from Cold Mountain), so the scenes of the blue ridge(that were obviously NOT the blue ridge) just ruiined the movie.

I liked Cold Mountain; it was a good adaptation of Frazier’s book. Actually, the scenes were filmed in Romania.

    Already mentioned.

The report of a deal atleast 9 months old. The offer made by Ficantieri was accepted by CSL in December 2003.

design for the 32,000-35,000t carrier air defence ship – It’s 37,500 DWT finalised last year. The project was also never halted to be “restarted”, as he claims.

Fincantieri’s naval vessel division includes supplying the engineering and design. counterparts at Fincantieri in Italy over the next two years to finalise the ADS’s design – Ficantieri is not involved in the overall design but the propulsion systems design and engineering of complementary services. The contract also covers some commercial aspects of the project.

Also, in terms of “experience”, the Andrea Dorea is scheduled for 2007 and the emphirical data will only come after the project completes.

Very interesting. Do you have the sources for those contradictions? I’d like to read more about that.

Did’nt the same guy report the Gorshkov deal to be “done”, 2-3 years ago?

But the Gorshkov deal was reportedly ‘done’ by many sources over many years. Again, what’s wrong with this particular article?
