    We don’t even know the exact conditions of the Raptor vs. Eagle test. Just look at the news briefings of the successful ABM launches and get an idea of how ‘fixed’ the tests are. I think it’s a bit premature to go trumpeting the F-22 as the magic bullet.

    Just to be sure, but KH-59ME I’m assuming is the same designation as the KH-59MK? K = Kitay? = same thing as E for export?

    Now the latest news suggests that the KH-59ME may not be ready until 2005; delays?

    Not far off. What about Chechnya and the other FSU republics that have tried to secede?

    For those that argue for Taiwanese independence, they would point to the UN Charter and its declaration of a people’s right to self-determine their own type of government. It seems to me that the US is in violation of this with regards to Iraq. My point is, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

    Does not China have the same right, as the US once did, to preserve the union and her territorial integrity? Obviously it seemed incredibly stupid for the Union to attack the South as the latter had better generals and tactics, but yet, they pushed through. Was it worth the 600,000 lives for preservation? I think so.

    Besides, wars are all about stupidity.

    I would assume that Beijing would understand that attacking Taiwan would be a gave mistake. Taiwan would be more than able to defend itself until reinforcements arrive in the form of the U.S. military and possibly other armed forces in the region.

    You can’t seriously think the PRC would be that crazy?? Not only would they get annihilated, but Taiwan and its allies would take serious losses as well and no one is going to stand for something that catastrophic happening.

    China has everything to lose (such as their current ecnonomic power plus massive losses militarily) and nothing to gain by attacking Taiwan so I seriously doubt they’d do it.

    What does the PRC have to gain by having Taiwan become part of the “mainland” anyway?

    It’s not like if Taiwan is declared an independent state that people can’t go back and forth to visit relatives and whatnot so why would someone with family on both sides object to independence?

    Why did the Union object to the South’s secession and declaration of independence? 🙂

    BTW, I still can’t believe the canopy of the Sitara is that huge.

    It seems like they’re not taking advantage of the huge canopy by sitting the pilots so low.
