I see that rides are available for £3,500 – £5,000. Let’s hope that the CAA are on board with this, I know there were some very disappointed people who were hoiked out of their seats after boarding their paid-for flight when the MATS Connie was here a decade or more ago.

It sounds as though the Shackleton dismantling is nothing more than a ‘quick fix’ to free up some hangar space. Still, better that than shoving it back outside I suppose. I just hope that they don’t do any more damage in their haste to take it apart as quickly as possible. The poor old thing deserves better whilst under the care of a National collection.

I’m more concerned about whether it will fly at all, given the fact that the owner has parked his Spitfire for the past decade or so. Time will tell, however.
