My thoughts are: where’s the rest of that particular Stirling. Fascinating stuff.
Any more infor available?

Indeed, now how about that only privately owned Ro 37?

Elliott,
Could be, the same type of seat was used in the Hastings as well, but had
to just look that one up.:D
The Hastings example however differs in that it has a headrest on top of the arch of the seat back. If there are anyfitti ngs present then it’s Hastings, but perhaps a photograph could be posted of the seat in question. Or the variours seats that have been sold as being Halifax over the years could all have been from a Hastings instead.

Ok, so how many Ro 37’s were recovered from Afhanisthan?
Cees
This one?
It’s the wireless operator’s seat as used in the Halifax/Halton. I have one as well and there are more I have come across over the years, the leather upholstry is missing though as they all usually lack. Would be nice to see one with the leather complete.

That’s a fantastic find, even if the perspex doesn’t shine. IMHO this really should be on a Halifax or put on display in it’s proper context.
As you said, this proves what’s still out there, now where’s that Stirling fuselage section.

I heard that on the Dutch Island of Curacao two MLD Fireflies collided mid-air and crashed. The substantial remains of both are said to be still lying on private land with one of the tailsections having been transported to the Netherlands (having seen a pic of it somewhere). It is said that the remains are to be used to provide parts for the ex Swedish Firefly target tug that was swapped for the Aviodrome Spitfire IX, now with HFL at Duxford.

Those scans must still survive then somewhere?
When MAPS restore the Defiant they must be going back in time
considering that the airframe is so complete and untouched (apart
from that terrible red drab RAFM used to spray all over their exhibits).
The 110 and III with exposed engines also were red and looked like
they were bleeding.

Karl is absolutely sure that it’s a Hastings centre section. He was instrumental in raising Halifax NA337, so I am not questioning him.

Ben,
That might prove to be tricky with she who must be obeyed. from Hull towards York the roadsigns show all sorts of Halifax bomberbases. Wandering off track every time could be playing with sensitive parts of my body:D:D

Thanks Richard,
According to Karl Kjasgaard some some years ago he mentioned that he had located a Hastings centre section in a Malta scrapyard. The remains of Mossie are still around there so this sounds real. Any known scrapyards in the vicinity?
Cees
JC,
Yes, it’s a matter of reality and wishful thinking. Don’t worry about waiting for a week. BarrageBalloon hasn’t posted his photo’s of the Stirling section yet.
I will be on holiday in Yorkshire during september so a visit to YAM is on the cards as well as having tea in Bety’s Bar.
Cheers
Cees
JC,
Hmm yes, I can see what you mean.
Let’s make sure the item has a good home and show some piccies to
make us jealous.:)
I cannot use it as my cockpit will stop at frame 4 instead of frame 1;)
A few months ago I was offered a large section of Halifax mainspar that’s lying in some French scrapyard.
