And ex-Irish Seafire RX168? Last thing I read on this forum was that this airframe (ex- Chris Warrilow) was a non-starter but I have seen a photograph of it’s fuselage contraction which looked very much complete. Must be a matter of rescraping the barrel agin I think, not that I mind though.

IIRC there was one more substantial Spitfire wreck recovered from a French beach about the same period as the Sangatte Spitfire (and the Calais example), any chance of that one surfacing as well?

    Peter,

From memory, Reference 50 means turret and F20 could possibly be Fraser Nash FN 20 tail turret so pointing into the direction of Lancaster.

    Hope this helps

    Moooooooooh!
I was a great fan of the series and in one of the episodes he is watching a Spitfire land shortly before the war I think. He always seemed to have his arms in things they don’t belong.:D

Wow, that’s the footage of the B-17 that came down close to our museum and we have quite a lot of the wreck on display, it made a bellylanding and was taken apart by the locals. Every now and then people show up with something they found in their attic.

Nice to see it, we knew people had filmed the “dismantling” and were shown some footage.

Great achievement, the Canadian East Kirkby experience cannot be far off.
Peter, do you know if the replacement side windows and blister windows we sent off from Holland last year actually fitted? They were intended for the cockpit section in exchange for the canopy frame

What’s the story behind the canopy? How did it survive. I’m always interested how object survive decades and then get saved.
    Fascinating stuff
