Not much but there was an article in Flypast in 1983 I think about the Speke site. The Blenheims were mentioned and there was a photo of the last Halifax produced there.

Some years ago I located a similar tyre as a signpost for a tyre shop in the centre of Amsterdam. The owner claimed that it was bought after the war from a disposal yard in Holland. It still looked brand new and wasn’t used. Strange as no Lancasters, Lincolns or Shackletons have flown in Dutch service. I tried to swap the tyre for a tractor tyre (much more suitable for his shop I told him) but he wanted 2000 guilders at the time. I told him where to stick the tyre.

H2S (or Home Sweet Home) is a radar scanner that was fitted beneath the fuselage of the Halifax and Lancasters. This fitment was used to locate the targets which had a clear “footprint” such as lakes in the vicinity etc. The scanner was covered by a large fairing for streamlining.

Ahh, I love the late series Spits. Would be great to see this one information with Mark 12’s 22.
By the way, any progress on your retirement project Mark?
Or a discrete peep in your workshop to see what lurks there?
wink wink?

And there is a smaller scale version (an original test example) in storage at Soesterberg, the Netherlands.
Not quite a place where you would expect such a thing.

Chap at customs:
Is this your mine Sir?:D
Cees
Thanks chaps,
I had hoped your input would be forthcoming. I noticed that a lot of activity is going on in France. I thought France had some active groups as well.
Keep it up.
