Well after a hectic few weeks the Museum opened to the public yesterday, and it seems the public are suitably impressed!. A few things still need doing, and another exhibit is still to arrive from Italy, which I can’t comment on just yet. Hard to capture how life like the mannequins are in the photos..they were done, along with the sets, by Weta workshops, the same people who did the Lord of the Rings props – some talented people I can tell you!
Hi Dave,
Aren’t these the same people who are said to be building ten full size Lancasters for the new Dambusters movie? Any new on that one? Their own site hasn’t any news on the state of progress apart from the Peter Jackson interview where it was said that one airframe was finished.

Well,
PM me and I will see what I can do.

There, you see, hardly anyone “bit” into your bait. I have plans for a Mk. IV Halifax but seeing as how there is no radio-active material for the reactor readily at hand we never saw the project to fruition.

P.S. “flying is a science, you pull back and the houses get smaller”
Hi Karl,
I thought it was steampowered?:D

The Me110 is original but was restored from the remains of the former AFC aircraft wrecks which were imported by Jim Pearce. The wingskins were replaced and looked very `clean` when I visited the musuem with EHVB during september. The leftovers are still in store and could yield another for an interested collection. Make them an offer they cannot refuse perhapse=
That museum is first class and a must see if you are in the area.

Amazing rebuild, well done. And it seems like a Thunderbolt fin is hanging on the wall in the background.

In the “other” magazine an article about Otto Smik was also published IIRC
Don’t have it at hand, but was a few years ago.

The Hercules powered Lancasters used Rotol propellors, so that rules them out I think.:)

Ok it also says: if you are interested make offer.
To pay for a recovery?
More info would be nice. Exciting find.
And what about the Whitely?
Cees
It looks to be an Italian aircraft seat similar to the ones in the G55 Centauro and the 202 Veltro
Just a guess

Here’s a pic of the Hampden after some restoration work has been done. I found it in the archive of this forum. Seems to be to a good standard. Any more recent pics?
(forgot to look for the poster of the pic, sorry for that)
Cees
Any pics of the Wellington tail turret and part tailsection?
What are the plans for that one
Cheers

This seems to be one of the Sptifires that have been under restoration for decades but never seem to be finished.
Cees
Very sobering to see that destruction.
May they rest in peace
Cees
Well don Mark,
To save this airframe from total destruction. According to the photo’s you have got an enormous task ahead of you. But the Werribee Lib restoration proves that it can be done.
Cheers
