my thoughts are a humble “Thank you” without brave chaps like ths our world would have been a very different place…..I only can hope that as generations pass by that the sacrifice and courage shown throughout war by what i call REAL HEROES is never forgotten and never confined to a couple of pages in a history book.

Thanks for the info…..would the tactical depth charges have been laid like mines and then used to guard the islands so to speak ?
Interesting to read that WE.177’s were taken down to the Falklands as part of the task force, BUT they never crossed into any of the islands territorial waters or into specific nuclear free zones….I wonder if the Vulcan would have been used to deliver one…..
Largest current warhead is 100kt
Would that be as part of a group of bombs ie 3x100kt on a trident missile aboard a sub, or is that as a conventional freefall weapon (if we have any in use still).
This has many Parallels with the Mainline Steam Locomotive scene, the people that actually work hard and give up much of their lives to keep them running are being pushed out by pen pushers and paper shufflers with hidden agendas…..It seems anyone who actually cares about the things, wether it be a Mainline Steam Loco or a Great British Built Nuclear Bomber always get rejected by the “suits” in the background…….
Just hope it all gets sorted with a good outcome for all ….. Victor lads top of list
HERE HERE 😉
No mechanical redundancy of systems
Please excuse my lack of knowledge but what does the above mean
Massively complex to maintain even in running order nevermind airworthy
Someone once told me how many Maintenance hours it took for one hour of flight. But I cannot recall what the ratio was….all i remember is that it was a HUGE number of hours for maintenance. Can anyone recall hearing such a figure
A friend of my dads served his time in the RAF on Canberras, I recall him saying how they had to fuel them up a certain way otherwise the tail end would drop to the floor……Sorry for the lamens question but what model/mark is the canberra to be returned to flight…?

thats is good news, is it going to be reliant on a lottery grant and/or public donations….
being a total newbie to canberra’s and seeing what a battle it is to keep the Delta Lady in the air, according to you chaps in the know, what chance has the canberra got in terms of the CAA etc etc, and would it be as big a job as the Vulcan , I would love to see another cold war jet in the air again….GOOD LUCK to all involved!!!!:D
Heres hoping she is fan of cold war jets too!!!!
XH558 also sported the scheme for a while too
I dint know that either :o, great info chaps…..
The B.2’s were operational in the white finish for several years, and very nice they looked, too.
Great info, im afraid I have shown my lack of all things delta there, I am learning though, thanks to you chaps!!!
I knew she was repainted, i have a pic somewhere of her landing at woodford in the camo scheme, but its still good to see an anti-flash vulcan even though she is a B2….and would be even better to see the black bits added….
