Just about 2 hours ago one L-159A of 212. tactical squadron has crashed near town Kolín. Unfortunately pilot´s dead body was found in the wreck…
Requiescat in pace
yup it has nothing to do with. In fact it is UK lack of support for Saudi politics that created this problem in first place for BAE. The same will happen with EADS/Airbus/Eurocopter/Dassualt.
do u seriously think LM production capacity is so low that it can only deliver 36 F-16 in 8 years?. this second set of 18 is still hanging. These problems are even before the delivery of planes. These problems will multiply Irak actually use them in anti-terroist operations.
Because Turks/Sauid/Qatar/UAE are going to use there economic power to halt any weopons delivery to Irak. once they find out that Czech republic is building Irak airforce and acutally delivering the planes. than fun will start. These planes have no upgrade future as by the time they are delivered Czech company will out of business any way if not the whole country.
well some funny ideas and conclusions… anyway, Aero Vodochody prospers in good way, 2011 year profit was 175 million Crowns and annual turnover over 2,2 milliard Crowns. Obout “no upgrade future” of L-159, Aero Vodochody is working on modernization of first eight L-159A of Czech Air force.
EADS CASA at least returned one L-159 to the Czech Republic as compensation for the delays in the C-295 fleet.
I know, it was included. It was T1 from Czech Air force active service, now it is back in service
fixed:
General director of Aero Ladislav Simek in Czech TV: “We will develop modernised version called L-159BQ by Iraqi specs. It will take about 2 years. Plane itself is basic F-16 trainer and light combat aircraft/border patrol etc.”
Those 24 planes will be brand new, Iraqies refused used and stored planes of Czech air force some time ago. Second, in Aero Vodochody are stored only 32 Czech air force Alcas A, it´s not enought for making 24 trainers. Those four planes for free will come from active service with Czech Air Force, so Czech air force will rebuilt another 8 stored L-159As for 4 T1s. Actually stored L-159As aren´t for sale, because Czech L-39 will be decommissioned during four years, so those L-159As become T1s as the time goes (Czech air force will need around 15 new trainers, so even 32 stored L-159As (minus 8) are not enought for rebuilding)…
So Iraq will get planes equipped according its request, and I bet that they will be not of same low level equipment like Czech T1. Much more they will be of L-159B level even better, of course with simulators, virtual trainers, pilot training etc., so no surprise with the price…
