The new road was opened at 12:01 this morning and by all accounts is working very well.
Looks like a B-29 / Washington B.1 in the first shot, I was wondering at first if the pics are of Hemswell? However both Lincolns & Washingtons were based at Waddington.
Ideally a date should give a way an RAF station with that many Lincolns on it.
Sadly no dates are given on any of the photos,
Looks like Waddington to me.
Thought the same,
Is it a britt in the first shot.
Bit of a bargan for £3
Thats more good news for Southend, well good news for those that want an airport in Southend not so good for those against the airport expanding its services.
Throughout the day:
2 Spitfires,
Hurricane,
Buchon,
Skyraider,
Wildcat.
The closure of Eastwoodbury Lane and the opening of the new road is scheduled for 1st September
Apparently (don’t know if its true) but there will not be a Public Inquiry in to the closure of the footpath instead there will be a Hearing instead.
BREAKING NEWS:

Is it something to do with the blown wing?
There was talk of a Biz Jet area but also a cargo centre, would be nice to have T2 but the problem is getting passenger to and from the station, at present there is a free bus, I would think they will just extend the new terminal building.
Reading some of the comments on the local rags web site brings a smile and a roar of laughter.
there is also this story
The protesters have a “history” of the airport om thie website and to quote word for word from it…
“The aerodrome apparently played a useful role during the war.”
Thats all they say about the two world wars the rest is airport bashing!
News that the new terminal will need to be expanded in the futire has not pleased the Anti’s
What has cost £56,927.12p
The costs incurred by Southend Borough Council defending it’s self in relation to the Southend Airport runway extension.
Not included is the cost of officer hours in contesting the proceedings, which both the High Court and the Court of Appeal found to be unarguable.
She’s looking smart
Well done.
It is being reported that SAEN (Stop Airport Extention Now!) have again today lost the appeal for a judicial review in to Southend Borough Council’s approval to the plans.
This is the third or forth time it has been thrown out, luckly they have lost legal aid just wish the council would go after them for costs.
9 flights a day Monday-Friday & Sunday but with 10 flights on a Saturday.
First flight out each day is to Faro at 6:30am last flight in 22:35 from Palma and Ibiza.
The protesters are back in court Wednesday to appeal (again!) for a judicial review of Southend Borough Council’s approval to the runway extention been rejected two or three times already so many that I can’t count that high!
The protesters have lost legal aid so have to fund the appeal themselfs.
A few weeks back the local Lib Dem was jumping up and down over the pruning of trees in the flightpath, he reconds it means aircraft will be flying extra low which is why the trees are being cut back…
Would make for some superb photos if they were lower!
The local rag said that there were two “paper” airlines intrested in Southend but were still looking for funding.
