Whatever IAF selects is best. :dev2: Splitting orders will be worse for logistics. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Interesting Story! In Indian which are considered the best fighter pilots…………….Air Force or Navy?

There is no clear answer. But on an average, operating a jump jet from a pitching platform requires more skill and training than flying the average fast mover.

EF eh? The Austin effect has rubbed off at last i see ๐Ÿ˜€ No doubt India is a tad bit overreliant on Mother Russia, but deep TOT and JV type deals should take care of any negative side effects thereof. Same thing with spares too. In time if India produces every nut-bolt for the Mig, why should spares be a problem? also what can they do if Russia is the only one that treats them somewhat equal-equal? France has played a high hand indeed by offering the Paks Marlins, thats despite a 3 bln $ scorpene and similar airbus deal. They gotta realize where their bread is buttered. JMT.

    Regards,
    USS.

Well its EF/ Rafale/ US aircraft/ Gripen if we dont buy MiG. Why no MiG, because we 1)_already have too many MiGs 2) Even fifth gen fighter is with MiG. Enough of MiG already!!

At this rate, we might as well have MiG itself shift to India. And call itself MiG-Sharma or MiG-Varma or MiG-Dhillon. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ :p

    So–Gripen + US aircraft—political issues + sanctions
    Rafale—-Marlin to Pak

So only EF is left. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

He’s speaking of the machining. Such a HEAT warhead would be pretty hard to manufacture and get consistent performance out of.

I havent heard of Pythons anywhere. They might just retain the Magic-2’s to cut costs. Besides, those are fairly capable AAMs.

The upgrade also includes a new digital video recording system, probably the same Israeli one as on the Jaguar & MiG-27 upgrades.

The Russians seem to have done a helluva job reducing RCS on the Flankers, bringing ’em down considerably, plus what marginal RCS difference the Eurobirds might have left is further countered by superpowerful radars such as IRBIS.

As far as MRCA is concerned, the MiG 35 pretty much sounds like the best deal so far:
    Most cost effective
Good deal of commonality with existing IAF birds and already existent infrastructure plus experience
Offers tremendous bang for the buck, comparable to anything the Eurobirds can throw at it @ half the cost!

    Regards,
    USS.

We are already overreliant on Russia. And after all the spares thingmajig with MiG do we again have to depend on them?

I hope India buys the EF. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

Sorry guys for once again the same question, but are thee any latest NEW’s on the LCA-programme ????

    Thanks in advance, Deino ๐Ÿ˜‰

560 flights. Four senior IAF personnel assigned including two Group Captains & 2 Wingco’s.

Two (if I remember) Navy test pilots deputed to the program- but are currently flying TD-1. Apparently familiarizing themselves with the program.

IAF has 28 aircraft on order. 8 LSP + 20 I batch. Apart from these there are to be TD-1, 2, PV-1,2,3 and LCA- Trainer, plus LCA Naval.

India is also joining up with Israel for a new comprehensive EW fit for the LCA-including passive/ active ECM and electro-optical detection & countermeasures.

My condolences to all the victims, and a hope that all the terrorist scumbags wherever they are hiding whether in Saudi or Pak or Afghanistan are brought to justice.

Ajai Shukla is talking out of his rectum. Which is not surprising since thats where his head mostly is.

About BPJ’s and Helmets made by state owned dinosaurs, thats all made by the private sector which is making mondo money out of the area..

Part of the Billion dollar TATA group of companies in India

    http://www.tamlindia.com/

    http://www.tamlindia.com/defence.html

There are half a dozen other manufacturers of BPJs and Helmets scattered around, lotsa brochures were available on the net.

But problem is Army doesnt just want kevlar + ceramic insert, it wants the latest Dyneema jackets which are even a kg lighter, so its actually negotiating with US Manufacturers to supply the fiber, have it machined/molded in India for its needs and supplied…

But this moron Shukla does not even know this basic fact.

Canโ€™t hit India? No use for Pak – Islamabad shy of f-16 minus mirage-buster

Islamabad, Sept. 11: Pakistanโ€™s long-delayed F-16 purchase from the US has stalled again just before the two sides were to ink the deal as Islamabad has realised that the jets would be useless in combat with the Indian Mirage 2000.

Pakistan was to sign what is called a letter of acceptance with the US to buy at least 18 new F-16 multi-role combat aircraft. But Pakistan Air Force (PAF) officials informed General Pervez Musharraf a week ago that the aircraft did not have the electronic warfare system they want.

Musharraf, who began a three-nation tour today that also takes him to the US, was told that without this system the F-16s would be good only for training and not for combat with the Indian Mirage 2000 or any other Nato (the US-led western military alliance) aircraft.

Seems to be some problem with the IFF or RWR..

F16 deal: MMA slams Govt. for agreeing to ‘shameful’ terms
Islamabad, Sept. 3 (PTI): The Pakistan Government’s decision to buy, repair and upgrade 96 F-16 aircraft under stringent conditions has been strongly criticised by Islamist alliance Muthahida Majlis Amal (MMA) which claimed the deal would turn the country into an “American colony”.

The purchase on “shameful” conditions was “tantamount to making Pakistan an American colony,” MMA President Qazi Hussain Ahmad said in a statement yesterday. ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

He said under the deal, Islamabad would buy 36 new, 26 used and 34 upgraded F-16s from the US for about 5.1 billion dollars to be paid in advance.

Islamabad had to fulfill certain conditions, including the presence of US personnel at the Pakistani airbase for daily checking of the aircraft, monitoring flights and operations, bar to carry nuclear warheads and prior approval of the US government for operation against a third nation, he was quoted as saying by the Daily Times.

The MMA leader said all these conditions were “prejudicial” to national interest. He claimed all Pakistani airbases would come “under the control of” US air force.

He said US Assistant Secretary of State for Political Military Affairs John Helen had categorically stated that this deal would prevent China from building a strategic military-to-military relationship with Pakistan. “This (deal) will convert Pakistan from a sovereign and independent country to an American colony,” Hussain said.

It seems the army have decided not to induct AKASH.

This is a Trishul replacement, not Akash. The Trishul was meant to replace the OSA, which this will replace now. The Akash is a SA-6 replacement. ๐Ÿ˜Ž

The Akash & Nag (ground launched) have both cleared trials, so they are safe.

What would be interesting is whether BDL’ll be license manufacturing the Pythons/ Derby’s and BEL the radars, this is the second order along with the IAF. So they are rationalizing the orders.

These light boats look cool, but are vulnerable to heavy MG fire. The IN has purchased a bunch of Dvoras, my thoughts likewise on those.
Basically, the SLs in their usual sea-fights with the LTTE, have lost Dvoras to the armed speedboats, which usually have a bunch of heavy machine guns on them, to RPG weilders..
