Speedy recovery Moggy, the wings may be clipped for a while but they will grow back.

Sorry to jump in with both feet on this very interesting thread. A Beaufighter was blown up on the Lincolnshire coast near Skegness, I believe in the early to mid 70s. Thats all I know, can anybody provide more info on it?

Motorcycling dangerous? Been riding a motor bike since 1971. Only come of 4 times and all 4 times on black ice.

Car drivers are the most dangerous things on the road especially on the A14 between Bar Hill and the Girton turn off as I find out every time I go to Duxford.

As for Tigers in Africa – they are found in Asia so not dangerous hunting Tigers in Africa.

    Brian

Then you are lucky, I gave up bikes after a friend was killed, as usual caused by a car driver.

I’m aware Tigers are not found in Africa.

Is there any F-84s capable of flight? or under restoration to fly?

no worse than doing something equally as dangerous, like riding a motorcycle or taking a walk in Africa looking for Tigers.

I wonder will the airfield be available for GA fly-in visitors?

    Moggy

It would be silly for it not to be available. Theres plenty of runway and I believe a grass strip that the gliders use or did use (I did some gliding from there 20+ years ago). How does it work at Duxford? Do the landing fees include the museum admission price? (I’m ground bound and genuinely have no idea)

If it all comes together it could be a very good thing for Lincolnshire, I wonder if/when the BBMF will move there?

I’m seriously considering booking a flight, but I just want to know about the seating in the aircraft. Are you guaranteed a room with a view, such as a turret etc? I’m not sure I can justify another £1500 for the cockpit seat, but I don’t want to pay £3500 and be stuck in the depths of the fuselage 😀

Why? Its a Lancaster, is being able and lucky enough to fly in it not enough? I would have a seat in a minute regardless of where said seat is…

I would say its a template rather than the real thing, there’s another one in the background. Also lots of other odd shapes in the bins and boxes, mold’s for fiberglass perhaps?

On the contrary. Every animal (and human) has to die.

    Moggy

Indeed thats correct, but I cant help thinking its us as a parasite on this planet that should die out first.

Much more educational for all visitors in zoo’s (I think) would be feeding live animals to the Lions, Tigers etc. That way every visitor gets to see what the big cats really do in the wild…

I’m sure that the majority of us have seen domestic cats catching and killing something, so why should we not see big cats doing what they do?

This is probably the lowest I have ever seen a Mustang with the gear up…certainly very lucky to get the shot, it was very rubbish weather

    die young without claiming pension.

Not always true, old WW1 vet i knew started at a young age and packed them in at the ripe old age of 92. Life is a lottery smoker or non smoker.
