Plenty, any particular angle or view Derek? 🙂 Only a few i can put up here, i think i posted them before so dont want to bore people with the same pics, will try and fish out some different ones!
Agree completely Lancman, lets face it if she was to become airworthy then she wouldnt be able to stay at East Kirkby and this would mean no more night taxi runs and no authentic bomber base museum. Without its star exhibit it would be a shadow of its former self.
Think ive posted this before but you can never get enough Lanc pictures 🙂 beats the recent glut of Spits and Mustangs 😉
Hi, there are four such sections in the UK as far as i am aware
Jeremy Hall – Section from i think the Radio Operators Position as farforward as the Blister. This featured in Flypast in 1999 I think, within a few years anyhow.
Bernie Salter- This section was featured in a 1984 Issue and ive never heard of it since apart form that one issue. The issue was actually made just a fewmotnhs after i was born so it was a back issue for me 🙂 I think Mr Salter was at one point, maybe still is, involved with this and maybe also parts of FM118 (See Wrecks and Relics)
Norman Groom – This is the one that Moggy has highlighted
Thorpe Camp – They have as far as i am aware the mock section built for the TV film ‘Nightflight’ with Plummer and Woodward that featured NX611.
best regards steve
An interesting point to note is that in very much the same way that films employ ‘stock footage’ (ie Dark Blue World with the Battle of Briatin footage and even Memphis Belle footage), there now growing amounts of stock CGI. So the producers of ‘The Few’ could employ the creators of the JU87’s in Captain Correlis Mandolin and tailor the markings and JU87 Model to what they need. This in effect saves an awful lot of time and money mapping out new CGI models and researching flight characteristics etc.

Here is the response in full. I ahve decided against editing it to just the point as it is fairer to hear the full arguement.
THE MORALITY ISSUE WILL ALWAYS BE A CONTROVERSIAL ONE.
THIS COULD APPLY TO ALMOST ANY FORM OF MILITARIA THAT IS FOR SALE.
I COLLECT 40MM BOFORS ROUNDS THE ONLY THING THAT THEY ARE FOR IS TO SHOOT
DOWN AIRPLANES.
IS IT WRONG THAT I COLLECT THEM CONSIDERING THERE INTENDED USE?.
PEOPLE WILL PAY A LOT OF MONEY TO FLY IN A WW2 AIRPLANE THAT MAY HAVE
DROPPED BOMBS ON BERLIN. IS THIS GLORIFYING DEATH? IS THE OPERATORS OF
CLASSIC AIR CRAFT PROFITING FROM WAR?
I AM A OPTIMIST AND LIKE TO THINK THAT WAR IS A BAD THING AND PEOPLE ARE
INTERESTED IN THE HISTORY .RATHER THAN BLOOD AND GUTS.
THE AIR MUSEUM NEAR ME DIDN’T WANT THEM THEY HAVE THOUSANDS APPARENTLY.
AND I HAVE SEEN 50CALS FROM CRASHES FOR SALE IN MUSEUM SHOPS.
DO YOU THINK THIS IS WRONG?
I THINK THAT A SENSE OF PERSPECTIVE IS NEEDED.
THIS IS NOT A BODY PART OR EVEN A PERSONAL ITEM OF THE CREW IT ISN’T EVEN A
PART OF THE AIRPLANE IT IS TWO INERT 50CAL MG ROUNDS FROM A VERY SAD PART OF
HUMAN HISTORY.
BUT I THINK IT SHOULD BE REMEMBERED AND PEOPLE SHOULD NOT BE ASHAMED TO HAVE
A PART OF SOMETHING .IF IT MEANS SOMETHING TO THAT PERSON .THAT CAN ONLY BE
A GOOD THING.
I CAN SEE YOUR POINT I HOPE THAT YOU SEE MINE.
best regards, steve
I may but will PM you as its more appropriate for off board discussion,

Hello, Back again, I managed to get a response from the seller. I am debating whether i should post it here in his defence but i am not sure if it would be right to post a personnel email on a public forum.
Perhaps it would be more suitable to outline the points he made, i would add his response was courteous and polite on the matter.
best regards, steve
It was two rounds from a crashed B17. The serial is provided below. Seems reasonably sick in my opinion to try and profit form something like this. Im going to message the party concerned for a little more info on this. The link works for me ok although with it being ammunition it may be blocked in some countries.
Here is a link to an image of the item

Is this thread by any chance over compensation for the top gun discussion on another thread 😉

hm, it’s terrible in Lincoln too….. i mean all we get is the odd spitfire, hurricane, the lanc, tornado, chipmunk, vc-10, sentry, jetstream, f16, mirage…………….. i won’t go on 😉
Aviation enthusiasts really should live within 5 miles of an airfield for their own health if anything! 😉

JDK, you are right about the end of BOB not been your typical hollywood ending. This is what makes it brilliant in my opinion. Those last few moments of the the film probably gave the audience time to digest what they had jsut seen before mindlessly stomping out of there seats as they would have done with a straight cut to the credits. The director Guy Hamilton used the oppurtunity to display the number of lives lost in the battle. It gives a moment for thought.
Indeed it is better than that ‘other film’. However i think we are getting into worrying territory if we use Pearl Harbour to compare with.
I think if we are talkign BoB films then obviously Battle fo Britain is the one to compare others with. Good cinematography, Amazind aerial sequences, a rousing score and a talented enough cast to make us latch on to their characters in the often small amount of screen time they have.
Corsair 166B, start off with the following perhaps
Memphis Belle (Original Documentary or 1990 Film)
Battle of Britain
Empire of the Sun (a few limited but excellent flying scenes)
Reach for the Sky
The Dam Busters
Tora Tora Tora
Pearl Harbour (terrible terrible film but with some nice visuals)
The Right Stuff
