Am afraid you’ll have to wait….
Look out in “Britain at War” after Christmas and sometime in to New Year, as well as coverage elsewhere. My hands are tied as regards to further information at this time. Sorry to be a tease!
Well done andy, any more recoveries planned for the future?
http://www.facebook.com/pages/Royal-Navy-Historic-Flight/214084448635613 If you read the first comment it reads “Good news – a large wooden crate containing a centaurus engine has turned up in the RNHF hangar today. Before long we’ll have VR930 in one piece again”
Good news RNHF look forward to seeing FB.11 in the skies again !
Been missing her from the air show circuit for too long.
I think it would be fair to say slowly, i think its on the backburner at the moment
saw it in the hanger many years ago when work was progressing so a bit disapointed to hear that.
Does TFC still have the sea fury FB11 under rebuild and if so whats the progress with it.
Both the FB11 and the T20 are confirmed for duxford and thats from the RNHF airshow dates as a update from 25/9/11 so you can only hope that there right and im wrong from my last post!
Thanks for the info hope it makes it to duxford in a few weeks 🙂
I think it may well be a non starter as fitting, ground testing and test flying will take time.My best bet would be a fresh start next year but you never know.
Hi all what is the status of sea Fury VR390 info would be much appreated? 🙂
Engine runs were imminent in the usa, there has been no up date on there web site for several months.
No, I’m pretty sure the Kestrels are not new build – you would be surprised how many there are around. They may however (and have) required extensive rebuild, and no doubt a lot of new parts!
Bruce
The two nimrods and the fury have as close to the original marks of kestral fitted as posible.Retrotec have enough engines to fit to there future restorations but are always looking for more.
Good to see kenley looking in good condition.Did any of the flyers in the film make it into preservation?
LF363 doing a fly past over hucknall, notts at 1-20pm today, looked and sounded great.
