Mongu, I’m older than you (29)? What purpose does Ali G serve, anybody? He is not the least bit funny.
OOPS!! 😮 Typo, my bad!
How about them starting that airline in Australia in the wake of Ansett’s demise, like they were talking about a little less than a year ago? Steve, any thoughts on this?

That very same one, EG. I already have my airfare (Business Class on USAirways) and my hotel via my father’s timeshare exchange. I tried to get that white hotel with all the balconies that you can see on many of those approach shots, or the one on the other side of the runway next to that bar the photographers talk about, alas they were all booked. When I go again, I’ll book more than 6 months in advance. I got a hotel about 7 K’s from the airport, so I’ll probably hire a car.
Michael, in both instances the Royal Barge was TG910 as my flight UA904 arrived @ 9:05 a.m. and the Royal Barge was parked at the gate. On Wednesday, still suffering from jetlag, I was up at 5:00 so I just looked out the window and watched planes on approach. Sure enough, a little after 7:00 a.m., here comes the Royal Barge again, preceded by a UA 777 and numerous BA 777’s and 767’s. Also, the S. African 743 and a BA744 made appearances. Just a thought, There’s a really tall Holliday Inn near the Gloucester Road tube, I believe it’s called the Holliday Inn Kensington or something. If you have a room near the top of that thing and you have a decent lens or binoculars, I imagine you get some good views of the approaches. I’m sure the rooms are really expensive, however.
Ren, I would have loved to make a jump up to Scotland, but flying BMi into Aberdeen was just way too expensive. For my brother and I, it would have cost just as much to fly up there from Heathrow as it did to fly from LAX to LHR! Amazing, but true. We got a really good deal with UA. We’re going to go to AMS instead because my brother wanted to go there and it was considerably cheaper. Next time I’m in the UK, I will definitely hit you up, and that’s a promise. I’ll just fly into Scotland and avoid London altogether (the American dollar is $hit compared to the Pound!).
Lastly, can somebody please tell me where there is an Irish pub in London that serves Kilkenny?
EAL King, are you reading any of these posts in regards to you? For the love of God, MIX IN SOME ENGLISH! On a lighter note, I’m in London as we speak. I flew in on Monday on United. I’m flying BMi to Amsterdam on Saturday and back to LHR on Monday with BMi, connecting to United via IAD back home. By the way Michael, Thai’s aircraft on example Monday morning when I landed was Thai’s royal barge. From my hotel room, I can see aircraft on approach into LHR and what did I see this morning (Wednesday), Thai’s royal barge. Twice in 3 days? Not bad. You might bet lucky on the outbound or inbound. How many dailies does TG have into LHR? Is it concievable that the same plane took off on Monday, flew the 11+ hour journey to BKK, sat around a few hours, then flew right back again? Lastly, in August I’m flying USAirways into St. Maarten’s. REALLY REALLY looking forward to that one!
P.S. I was absent from the forum for about 6 months during winter. Some of you guys make reference to a certain Andrew. Prior to my haitus, he was a regular in here. Can someone enlighten me here, as I’m completely clueless to these references?
What do you mean? This particular plane never belonged to Sabena.
Aetos Cypreikos, perhaps you should consult with EAL King on your group sim project, as he is currently in the stages of starting an airline! 😉
I like the Condor scheme the best, the one with the Grey belly and engine cowlings. The yellow belly and engine cowlings weren’t bad either. Too bad these will be gone soon. 🙁
When I departed from T3 in 2001, I saw it. Last year I departed from T2, so I don’t know if it might have closed down. I’m going to depart from there again in about a week and a half, I’ll check it out.
NO!!!
Michael, there’s a TGIFridays in T3! That, by itself, makes T3 a great terminal. I guess you UK boys don’t appreciate a TGI’s as much as I do. Other than that, I thought the shops in there, along with the duty free on offer, was very above average.
The pax can also jump in to help, I surely would. Flight attendants are trained to be able to detain unruly passengers; 2 or 3 of them can do the job. I’m sure drunk and belligerant passengers are not weilding a gun, or anything. Ones that have a weapon (god forbid) have a different agenda, and are surely not drunk!
I like the black with the different colours. Black is my favourite colour to begin with, and mixed in with green, then blue, then red, very nice.
There is no doubt that alcohol dramatically influences someones behaviour. However, that in no way gives a drunk person the right to get belligerant. In my opinion, a drunk person gone balllistic on a airplane is in no way a different circumstance than a drunk person gone ballistic in the local bar or pub. If you’re going to ban alcohol on flights in order to ensue no one gets out of hand up there, they should ban alcohol in every public venue to ensue no one gets out of hand, period. In both cases, very extreme, and neither should EVER be considered.
I like how they painted the engine cowlings, are the A330’s like this?
