the Mad Dog 11’s are now history btw
I was not aware of this! Did they dump the DC10-40’s, as well?
They have three at the moment, I think.
Is the distance from Birmingham to Dubai justifyable in having to use the 777-300ER?
OK, thank you, I will keep away from the airport, why are they so odwn on spoters at airports, is it the security thing? But most other countries allow it quite freely?
See, I don’t know. On all the aviation photo websites there is a Greek photographer (Elliott Kefalas) who takes pictures from ATH and various other airports, and most if not all of his photos are ramp shots. He obviously does so no problem, so I don’t know. The fact that those blokes got arrested a few years back is very disturbing. I don’t even know where they were taking pictures from.
As you can see on the right side….thats Maho gone!!!
That’s too bad. I’m glad I got to get blown away by jetblast from a 743 at least once. They had already begun construction on the terminals when I was there in ’03. Just curious. The roadway that is currently at the end of the runway is access to the Caravansarai resort. How will the resort be accessible if the roadway is gone, and also what becomes of the sunset beach bar? From what the photo indicates, it doesn’t appear as if there will be a roadway there, but I could be wrong.
At least there’s 1 of 2 TG Royal Barges still around. Nice photos. What’s the deal with that DC8?
And here is the start of the runway extension…luckily they haven’t started on the other end yet.
Does that mean no more Maho Beach?!?! 😮 😮 When is this supposed to happen?
I was not aware that EK had the 777-300ER. I thought they only operated the baseline version 773.
My advice is, just don’t take any photos at the airport. The Greeks really don’t trip on taking photos of civil airliners, just military. If you’re on the beach and the planes fly overhead, take as many as you want, as long as they’re not military.
wow…that 757 turned out to be HUGE!!
how come some of my pictures are large and some normal??
I don’t know, but all the files from my digital turn out huge, as well. Can I change the settings on the camera itself?
The 707 is N707LG and is owned by Omega Air Refuelling, it’s previous owner was the Indonesian Air Force and it is supposed to be heading to the US for refit and repaint as a tanker.
They’re still doing this? 😮
That Hellas Jet shot is very rare, they are stopping all operations soon.
Is th is official? I was going to ask this and you beat me to it. When are they closing shop?
Yeah, they ditched their 743’s shortly after August of ’03. They even started sending their MD11’s for a little while before putting the 744 on the route.
Is Global Supply Systems part of Atlas, or something?
Who was the last operator of the 707 (3rd photo)? Also, I’m assuming the 1st photo is the Polar that Ren mentions?
Nice Helican! I have fond memories of said table as well as said Burger, doing the same thing. The aforementioned Royal Island Club La Plage is the white hotel in the background of the twin otter photo, as well as the one directly under the KLM tale, below. Great location!
Getting back to the 747’s we were talking about, here are the classics that were flying there at the time I visited. No 744’s had started as of yet, just the AF A340.
