Assuming no 777 goes tech, the JFK route is 777 only.

But prior to that, it was the MD11, right?

No reason for anyone to hold a grudge. Everybody deserves a 2nd chance to make a positive contribution. A very mature statement, EK, you have my utmost (not up most 😉 ) respect.

Just thought I’d mention—it used to be pot luck whether you got KLM or Northwest fron Schiphol(code share),don’t know if this still applies, after the KL/AF merge. Anybody?

That seems kind of odd, even for an alliance. UA and LH have multiple ORD-FRA runs but I’m sure you’re pretty aware of what flight you’re on. I fly FRA-PHL in July on LH. Perhaps I’ll get lucky and surprisingly have my flight operated by US! 😀

Should be a 737 out of London, can’t guarentee a 777 from Schipol though. It’s all subject to change and available equipment.

How many AMS-JFK frequencies does KL have, and do they typically use the 777 on that route? I know I used to see thier MD11’s there often prior to them taking delivery of the 777.

I suppose it all depends on which airline you are flying, but if you’re flying the same airline all the way through, you will not have to collect your luggage, nor check out and check back in, from that matter. At Schiphol, you’ll just have to walk from one terminal to the other. You might have to pass through a security checkpoint again, since your connecting flight is departing to the U.S. But you won’t have to go landside, guaranteed.

If you liked the burgers at Maho…you should try the burgers and gyros at Marty’s Gyro…in Simpson Bay…the best on the island!!!
We sound the siren twice when we fly over on approach for landing..then Marty will have 2 cheeseburgers, medium well with garlic and fries ready in 20min…..GREAT setup!!

    Ok..I’m off

    Fly safe
    Ken

Shoot, I probably drove by it countless times when I was there. Had I known, I surely would have made an appearance. I have no doubt that the burgers are good, but the gyros? There’s nothing like a gyro at any mama-papa joint anywhere in Greece. The best are probably one of the places near Monastiraki, and not too far from Plaka, I can’t remember the name. Exit the Monastiraki station and go straight across the square, and it’s right across from Tony’s Kebab’s (very famous for Kebab’s, not gyros). But I digress again…..

Back to SXM, I actually have a reservation at the Royal Islander Club La Plage for this summer from Aug. 21-28, which is that hotel you see in most every approach shot in the background. The wife wants to stay in Greece longer to visit her parents, so I’m either going to have to cancel it or go on my own. Such tough decisions.

I saw two LOT 762’s on the ground at ORD at the same time once. But I digress…..

Alrighty…heading down to Maho for a burger and some photos….
    I’ll be back!!

Those burgers from the Sunset Beach bar on Maho are some of the best I’ve tasted! This from a person whose old man owns burger joints. 😉 The ribs aren’t bad either.

whats st maarten like. i fancied going there for a holiday, with the wife

and hope she wont notice the planes going overhead lol

    where exactly is it

St. Maarten is great, even if you’re not the proverbial aviation nut like the lot of us. I took the wife along when I went (it was my honeymoon, so I suppose I better have! 😀 ) It’s hard not to notice the planes flying overhead, but Maho beach goes beyond what you just see in the photo, not to mention the 30+ other beaches on the island that have no planes flying overhead. I would recommend a rental car, as the island is small and you can drive to the French side if you’re staying on the Dutch side. As far as location goes, it is in the Caribean, just east of Puerto Rico.

Do Corsair still have their 743’s ?

Good question. Per another thread on here, Corsair is currently taking delivery of ex UA 744’s to seemingly replace their 743’s, as they are taking on basically the same registrations. For instance, F-GSEX, -GSEA, and -GSUN are being replaced by F-HSEX, -HSEA, and -HSUN. Apparantly, as Helican mentioned, European is operating on behalf on Corsair at the moment.

How about they start non-stop DXB-ATH service. Currently, they stop in LCA enroute to ATH from DXB. Any of you guys see their world showcase and the three palm trees in the ocean?

Oh, you guys are bringing back some memories! From the original list, I only have recolection of Whizz Kids. Some of the other shows mentioned on this thread were at one point my favorite, like BJ and the Bear (I loved the big red semi!), Airworlf and Blue Thunder at the same time, CHiPs (filmed on the very freeways I drive around on), and one that wasn’t mentioned was Dukes of Hazard. When I was in 2nd grade, I watched that religiously on Friday nights. Another that wasn’t mentioned is Land of the Lost. Of course, like the next guy, I was a fan of A-Team and Knight Rider, but those are a bit more popular and are available on DVD at the moment.
