And i dont think so Skyteam ahs any hold in the Latin Americans sector? So if they operate scheduled services to Latin America it adds Skyteam although not a big scale, but a medium scale in Latin America.
Well, I would definitely consider AeroMexico, one of Skyteams charter members, to be of Latin American origin. Therefore, they are relatively strong in that area.
With the introduction of CO, NW, and KL, Skyteam will be a very formidable alliance, in my opinion, second only to Star, of course. 😉
No overhead bins in the middle, what were they thinking!?!? Where are the oxygen masks stowed? It does make the interior look absolutely enourmous and open, however. Is the IL-96 also void of middle overhead bins?
The 737’s won’t make it without a stop enroute, direct rout from SYD to LAX is 6508NM, the 737-800 can only go 4,200 with 140 passengers, 10,000lbs of cargo, and 46,500lbs of fuel. Stop of enroute perhaps?
Of course they won’t, Matthew, which is precisely why I said this on my first post on this thread:
a 73G with stops in Fiji, Tahiti and Hawaii en route?
Love the 707’s, Sandy. I was at Airliners 2004 @ LAX today looking through old TWA timetables hoping to find out if I flew on a TW 707 back in 1976. Alas, they didn’t have the June-Aug ’76 one available so the mystery remains.
I think they should open up a San Francisco to Sydney Service, it will be the only australian on that route, i think United still operate on the route!
Indeed they do.
Why not follow the lead of NZ and just continue one of 2 daily VS flights to LAX onto SYD? They they’d be serving Australia from the east and west.
It does not compare with Brussels for ease of viewing or number of eating and shopping places.
Of course it doesn’t compare with Brussels, does anything? 😉
I have to disagree with you Heathrow boys in regards to T3. I find both T1 and T2 much worse from an ergonomic standpoint than T3. At least you can see something outside the windows when going down that long corridor to the gates at the very back.
No offence, but “yuk”
Steve, didn’t you also not approve of the new UA livery? I like it, Nasir. A nice derivation of their current livery.
I wonder if he actually works at LAX? Does anyone know?
No he does not. If you visit his website, you’ll see that he actually resides in Australia, Sydney I believe.
Worst: Funchal, Singapore
WHAT!!!! 😮 Do you have data supporting this argument?
All Greek airports are the same, so I now know what to expect, and yet airlines still operate 767s, Dc10s, 747s etc. into these wee airports! 🙂
Can’t argue with you there. ATH was among this breed, as well, till they opened the new one. Considering these airports only handle decent sized traffic during the summer, it really isn’t all that feasible to build top notch facilities on every island. We have Olympic venues to worry about finishing! 😉
LAX, it’s a zoo. So over crowded and the security and bag screening is a nightmare. You have to queue up to get your bags x-rayed then wait to identify them before queuing up to check in.
That is standard procedure everywhere in the U.S. now, Skycruiser. You must be specifically talking about the Bradley Intl terminal, seeing as you fly for Cathay. I agree that terminal is a zoo. But you really can’t expect anything less. It handles 90% of the International traffic out of LAX and really has no ‘dead time’ throughout the day. If you use one of the other 8 terminals, it’s not nearly as bad.
What type of equipment does DJ plan on using from Australia to the U.S., a 73G with stops in Fiji, Tahiti and Hawaii en route?
Hey Dude,
RE:your sign off, doesn’t the coach count as god number 12?
Theoretically. 😉 I was going to add “+1” to it, but I didn’t want to mess with the slogan on the team bus. 😎
Its is because of the military the 707’s fuselage is the width it is.
It was originally drafted as a refueler for the USAF and USAAF. With modifications possible for radar sentry’s. Once McDonnell Douglas (then just Douglas Corporation.. hence DC prefix on their planes at the time.) announced the DC-8. not to be outdone, Boeing revised the 707 to a 6 abreast pax liner. This was possible because the USAF and USAAF wanted the fuselage a certain width (the numbers escape me right now), making it wider than the rival DC-8 which would only have 5 abreast seating.
Actually, the commerical 707’s have a widder fuselage than the KC-135 tankers. And although the 707 was marginally wider than the DC-8, the Douglas bird was still able to have a 6-abreast seating configuration. Example: http://www.airliners.net/open.file/061945/L/ . I’m sure there were some airlines, however, that used the ‘Eights’ with a 5-abreast config.
The blue design is very nice, however, the one with the blue underbelly is also nice from the feasibility aspect. CO could definitely use a facelift.
Thank you all, gentlemen. I’m still in shock myself. Did we really win it?
By the way, props to the person other than myself, that picked Greece to win it all in the poll at the beginning of the tournament. Way to go out on a limb. 😉 http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=26677 . Turns out I got 55-1 for my $50 bet. I should have put $100. 😡
