Southwest is retiring their 732’s and might already be gone since I haven’t seen one in a year or so.
Southwest still has some 732’s circulating. I thought the same thing, WD, but then I saw one about a month ago in LAS.
Seems like the only Russian type that the western companies ever had any distinct interest in, and continue to have interest in, is the An-124.
They must have determined that a non-stop was viable, based upon a certain number of connecting pax from their 2 daily LAX-AKL flights. If they have good load-factors, why not? I also heard they were going to start doing AKL-SFO non-stop. Is this going to happen?
Thats better!, thought you were all dead of joined another fourm.
I’m actually pretty jet-lagged, myself. I’ve been wide awake @ 6:00 a.m. the last 2 mornings, and I’m on vacation! When I’m working, I have a hard-time dragging my carcass out of bed @ 6:45 Monday-Friday!
When will TG be receiving the A346? Are they also taking delivery of the A345 to operate non-stop BKK to the U.S. routes, not-unlike alliance partners SQ? One thing I really like about TG is their variety of widebodies and the fact that they use them interchangeable on long-haul routes. For instance, 2 years ago, they were using the 773 on the BKK-ATH run. About a year ago up until April, they were using the MD-11. Since then, it has been the 743 and the 744. Very nice variety, indeed!
Allen, I really wanted to. However, my partner bailed out on me and went to Spain with his girlfriend after the France match. Not to mention all my travel plans (rental car, flights, etc.) were geared around my leaving on the 28th. Nobody expected Greece to be around this long, myself included. Tickets for the match wouldn’t have been a problem, everything else would have been. It’s ok, my Greek contingent and I will be in full effect watching the game come Thursday on my 57″ TV. 😎
I was just in Faro, last week for the Greece-Russia game. I stayed in Albufeira, very nice! On the way back up north, I passed countless busses full of England supporters on their way up to Lisbon from Faro. I believe my aircraft from FRA-OPO on LH was upgraded in similar fashion described by Peter. initially it was an A321 but it turned out to be an A300 perhaps due to the number of soccer fans flying into Porto for the matches.
Good. I think LH’s econo-class is next, seeing as they just upgraded their business class product.
Is it safe to assume then, that Emirates is also an alcohol free carrier? That being the case, that would be sufficient grounds for me NOT to fly them. 😉
will you be writing up some nice trip reports? As a way of compensating for the lack of photos
I don’t know, even though I notice they have a separate forum for them now. I wrote up a couple of trip reports back in 2002 when I flew UA business class from LAX to SYD and SQ business from SYD to Europe and back. I got very little, if any feedback so it more or less discouraged me from doing any further reports. I’m going to take my digital along to the YVR/SEA spotting trip my cousin and I have coming up in 2 weeks, plus my next Euro trip in July/August which will take me through a number of airports. I’ll be sure to take plenty of photos on those.
I’ve done the 14 hour Sydney-LAX trip many times, but i couldn’t imagine sitting in an aircraft for 18-plus hours at a stretch
Me too. However, seeing as the econ-class cabin on SQ’s A345 is ‘premium’ with a 37 in seat pitch, 7 abreast as opposed to 8, and have a greater angle of incline, it makes the trip slightly more feasible. Also the pax ‘meeting area’ at the rear of the plane is a nice touch. I could imagine it getting rather crowded at times, however. If I’m flying business, I’m comfortoble enough to where I don’t care how long the flight is.
Here’s the link for the hotel, gentlemen:
Heskey’s bloody useless. Why the hell did he bring him down, there was 3 England players round him and he wasnt going to get anywhere.
Exactly
Shame Beckham didnt put the penalty away.
No kidding. A relatively week attempt turned away by a below average keeper makes the matter even worse.
They should have brought in Keiron Dyer instead of Hesky.
It was bloody Steven Gerrard to blame for France winning gormless prat.
It was Hesky’s fault the game was even tied. Fitting for a player like Zidane, who had a horrible year in club, to score the 2 goals.
