Good taste.. stick with Star! 😀
Oh you know it, baby!
I would have considered staying there, but it’s too far from the city. The one I’m staying at is right in between, so you’re close to the airport and the city.
Yes we are talking about different hotels, mine was to the south of the airport.
I just realized that, I looked up all the Holiday Inns in the Frankfurt area and saw the one you’re mentioning. I also looked at the map and realized it was to the South. The cost also came up as $52Euro. Did you have some good views of that runway pointing to the South, either for approaches or take-offs?
Arriving into FRA isn’t the problem, its getting back to the airport in the morning that seemed to be it. Are you sure we are talking about the same thing though, there is “Holiday Inn” and then “Express by Holiday Inn” 2 completely seperate things?
Maybe. I’m staying at Holiday Inn FRA North. It is almost right between the airport and downtown, approximately 7km from the airport, but offers a free shuttle nonetheless. The address is Isenburger Schneise 40. If your hotel was a Holiday Inn Express, then there is also one of those at FRA and we’re talking about different hotels.
That shouldn’t be because if the gear collapses on the runway, the engines will shear off.
I would assume that to only be the case if the aircraft is in motion, which I don’t think was the case here.
What’s Vodaphone airlines?
I’d like to know how the passengers for the flight got to Taiwan or perhaps even Thailand (since they fly there, too). EVA Air only comes into LHR perhaps once or twice a day, so getting another aircraft to them would have taken a fair amount of time!
Rebooked onto other carriers flights. China Airlines, British Airways, etc. With one-stops, I’m sure they had a multitude of choices. My NZ SYD-LAX flight was cancelled due to maintainance one time, and I got rebooked on QF via AKL. That’s the one-time I flew QF and I wouldn’t fly Oneworld normally. It was an award travel ticket so I didn’t have to worry about FF mileage. Also, good thing I was flying business as we all got rebooked first and most of the econo-class had to wait till the following day.
We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express
Hey, that’s where I’m staying, on June 15th. I’m paying $72Euro, and that’s with the 21-day advance purchase rate, where they charge you at the beginning and there are no changes allowed. That was the cheapest, and I got the same rate on http://www.holiday-inn.com and on orbitz. The inflation could be due to the summer months. So you’re saying that upon our arrival into FRA (the 15th is a Tuesday) the shuttle could be full and we’ll have to find our own transportation to the hotel? Also, how easy was it getting downtown from the hotel? Any options other than a taxi?
Yet another Euro airline for Skyteam. They need to start expanding elsewhere. Still a nice decision, nonetheless.
Nice photos, Allen. That Thomas Cook 757, very nice.
Fantastic photos, Hans. I very much enjoyed my tour of AMS, thanks to Peter. Got a lot of good photos, but I still have an SLR. I need to get a digital.
I like the fan blades on the GE/PW engine.
Extremely childish
What do you mean? I’m not the only one that makes typos! 😡 You feelin’ me?
That picture was taken in Mexico City. It appears a Mexico company is reusing the old airline name.
Oops 😮 . I didn’t even realize you commented on the picture until after I made my post. I thought it was in EWR. I know Braniff had a decent Latin American presence back in the day, as one of my friends flew them to Honduras in the 80’s. Perhaps their roots in the region allowed the name to be commandeered by somebody down there.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that thought that MEX was a dump. Sitting in a departure lounge with no venues whatsoever, listening to somebody at a podium announce gate information due to the lack of technology, is significantly, below average.
as I have read many bad things about all the US majors.
Interesting literature. As I mentioned before, there are a few airlines that stand out above the rest as having supurb service. The aforementioned SQ, EK, CX, VS plus a small handfull of others lead the way. Everybody else is pretty much in the same echelon. The same ‘bad things’ you read about U.S. carriers applies to the rest of these carriers, as well.
