Whilst I’m not sure OneWorld are happy with this,
When is Oneworld ever happy with something? 😉
Thanks Bhoy. I personally could care less about Oneworld’s. 😉 I wouldn’t mind Skyteam’s, if they had one.
Interesting. I was lurking around the Star website and couldn’t find the link. Even though you gave me the direct link, out of curiosity, where on the main page do you go to get there?
The door configuration was customer preference, not MGTOW. Same with the 767-300, which come with 4 full doors, 3 full doors and 1 overwing exit, or 2 full doors and 2 overwing exits. AA, UA, DL, etc. opted for the latter.
These are SIGNIFICANTLY above average! I always like landscape pics of NYC.
is this some kind of record for the amount of time an airline has lasted?
Not at all. There have been airlines that never operated a single flight, yet had at least one aircraft painted up in a full livery.
I just got onto their website just fine right now. I flew them and I like them. Much better than your typical lo-co, in my opinion, plus they have Star Alliance Gold lounges. 😀
AMS as Peter mentioned. SYD is one of my favourites, the spot adjacent to rwy 34L/16R which is known as ‘the beach.’ I was just in Ft. Lauderdale (FLL) last month and they have a dedicated spotting area near the threshhold of rwy 7L. Great view of arriving aircraft, plus the ones holding for takeoff and taxiing. Here’s the kicker, they have a loud speaker set up continuously broadcasting air traffic control. You don’t even need one of those radios! I was in awe.
Well, it no longer happens as Kai Tak has been closed for some time now. However, when it was operational, the approach to rwy 13 was not straight in because of a mountain. The pilots had to aim for a checkerboard on said mountain, and make a right turn more or less at the last minute and come in. Plus you had crosswinds galore given it’s proximity to the mountains and the ocean.
I just go to Star’s website and use the schedule they have there, but it’s a pain in the ass. You basically have to re-enter the dates anytime you want to do a new search or by clicking ‘back.’ Is there a downloadable version that I was not aware of? I have United’s downloadable timetable and as nice as it is, it’s limited to their flights and codeshares.
Kabir, I agree with Sandy. Obviously there is no current interest in a 747 project from operators. Right now, everything is just theoretical, but if Boeing went to airlines such as Singapore, QANTAS, Cathay, British Airways, and especially JAL and ANA (as they are VERY PRO-BOEING), with a concrete plan, then I think something could happen. It would obviously have to be a major improvement over the current model that incorporates more fuel efficient engines, increased use of composites, greater range, fly-by wire, a new wing, etc.
No, 243 potential lay-offs, actually. 😡
Well, your travel agency (or whomever/whatever you’re getting your package from) could book you on Virgin to/from the states, and UA or AA within the States. More often than not, sticking with a particular carrier or alliance is typically cheaper, unless you do separate itineraries. I always do my planning on my own, so I don’t know. I will pay more to make sure I’m maximizing my miles. 😀
And just FYI, that 742 was repaired and last I saw, still flies for LH
Not suprising, considering it doesn’t look too beat up in that pic. Good thing it stayed on land. I think the only reason the China Air 744 was a write-off was due to the corrossion from it sitting in the salt water for a day or 2 until they could fish it out of there. Otherwise, they probably could have fixed it. I’m pretty sure I read that somewhere.
I’m gonna emmigrate to the USA and become a teacher… LOL
You do that! 😀
