I will go so far to suggest that it might be a certain percentage of the fleet that has to wear the alliance livery.

If it has to do with %, then aside from SQ which is at 0%, UA would have to have the 2nd worst % seeing as they have by far the largest fleet in Star and only one painted in the livery.

Do you have the link to where it says that each airline has to have 3 birds painted? I would be curious to read that.

Do you remember when the air guard flew out of ont?

No I don’t. Either I didn’t notice or it was before my time. I’ve been living in Chino since ’85. I do remember countless C-141’s based at Norton always doing sorties in the early 80’s when I was living in San Bernardino. My church was under the approach path to Norton.

I know that every airline in Star needs to paint at least 3 aircraft in the Star Alliance livery, and got to say, the bmi one looks the best,

United has always only had 1 bird in the Star livery. They had the one 763 painted in the original Star livery with the ‘original’ 6 members, and that recently got re-painted into the current Star scheme. And how does the Bmi one look the best when they are all identical save for the cowlings and tiny airline name under the Star Alliance titles? I just don’t see it.

Yes, the PW just barely makes it over the 80,000lbs of thrust total..Rollers have a nice margin over that!

Big Whoop! 80,000 pounds is more than adequate for a plane of that size to begin with. You wanna’ talk about a tiny motor in a supercar, let’s talk about the A340 classic. 😉

How does it get in the air with those things on the wing? It’s a bit like putting a tiny motor in a supercar, 110% gutless!

80,000 pounds of thrust will do it. 😉

I actually thoroughly enjoyed the ‘hamster wheel’ comment, Sandy. Very amusing. 😀

Shame about the watered down hamster wheels on the wings 😉

YAAAAAAAARRR!! 😮 Blasphemy aside, very above average looking on the ’57, as it will be when the 744 dons it. 😎

I once met a man who thought the A321 was a A300 and told me it was a piece of crap.

How dare he! 😡 I love the A300!

Interesting reading. What has become of Denver’s closed airport, is it still intact or torn down?

I flew over Stapleton a few years back and it seemed to be intact then. Not quite sure what condition it’s in now.

Since we’re talking about old airports, my home airport, ONT, had a new terminal built in 1998. The ‘old’ terminal was a dump, and had no jetways except for 1 that DL used. Southwest, who is the biggest player at ONT, had mobile portables for their ‘terminal.’ The new airport is really nice, and has lots of room for expansion. They used the existing site and runways for the ‘new’ airport. The old terminal still remains as offices, and is also used for movies. If any of you saw the movie “Catch Me If You Can” with Leo DiCaprio, ONT’s old terminal building is the one they use in the movie for “Miami International Airport.” They have also used it in the HBO series “Curb Your Enthusiasm” as LAX. It’s convenient to use it for movies because you just fill the empty terminal with extras and you have an ‘airport.’

AC have 12 direct flights from LHR today (Sunday)…

Thanks for that Bhoy. You were all over that information. Not only do they serve their 3 main hubs, but Ottawa, St. Johns and Calgary, as well. Very impressive. I don’t think UA has this many frequencies into LHR, does AA?

US Airways serve Philadelphia from Manchester, with A330s.

I figured as much, which is why I was surprised to see a 2nd aircraft, let alone a 757, on the tarmac in US colours.

I approve of how 3 of you were all over my question in a matter or seconds. Very above average. USAirways trying to stay affloat by selling aircraft. Nice 🙂

I like their old, old colours the best, the one with the cheatline. I notice one of the 2 US birds in the background is a 757. Unlike CO, I thought US only sent widebodies across the pond. Do they serve MAN from PHL and PIT, or CLT? Nice to see Virgin Classic Jumbos still flying. 😀

OA doesn’t have 3 dailies into LHR anymore? They used to.

How many flights do JL operate into LHR? Do they serve LHR from somewhere other than NRT?
