The Olympics could be used as an excuse, if you are originating in GLA and your destination is ATH. However, if you are originating in ATH and your destination is GLA? I tried both ways and it’s basically the same price.

I just did a search for random days in July/August and it came out to a little over 300 Euro round-trip. That’s a little expensive for just airfare on a charter airline, isn’t it?

Now… does that count as a subtle act of moderation ?

    Indeed it does.

And whats the point of this thread because I dont see one.Excuse me if I am being ignorrant.

I believe it is to point out that Air Scotland is set to fly between Glasgow and Athens. I find it very informative as I am going to check out the website, and I’m not one to go to Charter Airlines websites. I’m going to be in Greece this summer for a month, and if I can hop on one of these flights for cheap, I’ll go to Glasgow for a few days.

Is that going to be your first Ted flight, gd?

No, I’ve actually already flown on 1 TED segment (ONT-DEN) en route to FLL. I have another 2 coming up May 21-23. (SFO-LAS, LAS-SFO) and another 2 a fortnight later (LAX-LAS, LAS-LAX). They’re not bad. Comparable to most lo-co’s, but they have economy plus and I get the emergency exit rows when I make my reservation. 😀

It’s absolutely asinine that a primarily state-owned carrier would even remotely wind up in this predicament. Especially a carrier like Alitalia that has such a strong ethnic base not only in Italy, but all over the world (U.S., Australia, Canada, etc.) at large.

Looks like they are gearing up to become the 2nd best Alliance, behind Star, of course. 😉

They offered first class seats at much reduced fares compared to their competitors, didn’t they?

I believe so, or you could upgrade for really cheap. They also had the “free Vegas stopover” gimmick. Being that their hub was in LAS, if you flew between any 2 cities (that wasn’t originating or terminating in LAS) you were entitled to a free stopover in Vegas at no extra cost. Pretty good deal, if you ask me. One of my cousins flew them between LAX and JFK and took advantage of this.

What does this orange flag look like? I’ve always only been familiar with the one Dutchy has in his avatar. I always wondered why the soccer uniforms were orange.

It sounds odd to me that CO NW DL will work under the same alliance.

Not really. USAirways is about to officially enter Star, and that would make 2 U.S. carriers in that alliance. CO and NW already are partners, so them both entering makes sense. Obviously the only reason NW is entering in the first place, is because of the whole AF/KL gimmick. By the way, with US now in the mix, UA ended their marketing agreement with DL back in October. This entailed FF members of the respective airline being able to accrue mileage on the other airlines’ domestic routes only.

National was brought back, but they didn’t use the same sun logo as the previous National. Apparantly Pan Am owned the rights to it as they had acquired the original National. The 2nd National, which based in Vegas, also went under. They had a pretty good idea, and good fares being based in LAS, not to mention they were backed by the Harrah’s Casino chain. It’s mind-boggling to me that they didn’t do well.

🙁 Have you gone, or do you plan on going to any of the meets, Comet?
