Batbay, did you get quoted that price from a travel agent of one of the Star Carriers, or did you get that from an independant travel agency?

About 450 or so DC-10’s were built. Only about 250 or so Tristars. The DC-10’s will last a lot longer than the Tristars with all these freighter conversions flying about.

I’ll be on one of those TED birds tomorrow morning, en route to Fourt Lauderdale. Tell Mitucci what a great job he does, Franck. Also, what airline does Mitucci fly for?

Nice job, MEA. Interesting turnout you have there at DUS, especially an Aeroflot IL-96 and a EK A330.

Happy Birthday, Sandy. Here’s a pic of your favourite airliner, not necessarily in your favourite livery, however. 😉 Photo taken by me in SXM.

When I say, ‘above average,’ that means they are ‘pretty damn good.’ Just some of my lingo 😎 ‘significantly, above average’ is a little better than that.

Ill take a Cuban cigar instead, Matthew. They’re hard to come by in my parts.

Skyliner, you obviously missed the point of him leaving. I have a great idea, unless you want to post some pics (which you did a fantastic job of by the way), let’s put a moratorium on you starting threads for a while. Just reply to them, ok? And if you can’t carry on in the debate, don’t participate, just watch.

I don’t know, Pratt did just fine powering every 727 and DC-9/MD80, The first 2 series of 737, the majority of the 707’s, The majority of the 747-100/200’s, and a boatload of military planes. Yet RR did a great job of nearly bankrupting themselves and Lockheed with the whole L1011 debacle. The L1011 remains my favourite airliner of all time. I think they would have done a much better job of competing with the DC10 and probably produce more than 250 airframes had it not been for this debacle. Nowadays, the Trent is probably a better engine than the Pratt, and that’s cool. You pilots and mechanics would know better than me anyway, who am I to argue? At the end of the day, I just get sick of the continuous Pratt bashing and this being a forum, I have to represent. As long as the debate is clean and in good fun, it’s all good. 😎

Excellent job again, Peter. Looking forward to do some spotting there again in July. Love that KLM 777 in the new colours.
