PS Other a/c on barge? Can only say that one would have been off Empire Ray. I was on Eastern City.
Photo dropped off!
You mean off-loading in Halifax?
And try this – 3544?

All? The first 3 – over Malden Is. That was our photo. The colour cine was spectacular.
Court Martial? Night flying with new pilot. Time to finish – no fool – seen it all before – go off for 10 mins – brew a cup of tea – re-enter circuit – 400 feet on approach – into full moon – on three – 3 GREENS checked – hold off – 3 feet, 2 feet , KEYRUNCH!! Negiligence? NO way!!
Thank God I always did a power off landing.

LU-V? That would be luvely!!

T – didn’t think to ask!! And No3, of course, was out of view, so no one would have a fit.

Shorts – in India!!
” open canopy and pilot in place, capturing the moment before launch”
With right forearm raised to signal the FDO?

On take off – b****y Packard Merlin. NEVER had any other engine fail.
Turned back onto the runway but 2 Spits were coming in, so had to turn back toward the grass area &, by then of course, no speed. Undercarriage dug into the grass & rest of a/c bounced some 20 yards & broke in 2.
Cockpit filled with fumes – emergency jettison failed – so I had to break open the canopy with my shoulders. Never been the same since!!
Double Brandy for the stitches in 4″ cut.

PS Failures? Actually, incorrect. Showing off Shackleton at Air Display – feathered Nos 1&2 nearest the crowd for low pass – No 3 cut.
Couldn’t count the pairs of hands that went for the switches!!!
A favour, James?
Since I’m not a member, add my comment?
Utterly brilliant!! Took me right back.
This is the model I made en route Nova Scotia – http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v164/photo04/RAF2/hurri.jpg
& this was me – out of FW range, of course. Do I look like a hunter killer?? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v164/photo04/RAF2/self.jpg

I was LU-V!
Lucky I was never told all this or I might have worried!!

Certainly possible, but you would still put your own ‘chute into the seat if you valued yor life!
(Luckily I rarely, if ever. flew other than my own a/c)
PPS THIS is the way to enter – albeit Luftwaffe.
RM – ‘chute straps first, please – assuming that the pilot had the sense to leave his ‘chute in the seat & not do a duck walk from the tailplane, crash his ‘chute against the canopy when entering & then slam it down onto the edge of the seat!!
Would you trust your ‘chute after this??
= Tim
PS I would be airborne before this chap was seated!!
