    Hi All,
Sorry for the bump from the depths,I missed it in 2013.
and was just doing some starkey research and found it.
    A question
On Tims drawing of the underwing :-
there is a stripe with ‘dots’ in it as opposed to the way the black stripes are indicated with lines.
any ideas on what this signifies ?
is it the original typhoon underwing stripes
    cheers
    jerry

Can’t think what the dots were – not actual markings I’m sure.

BACK Bob Doe (234 Sqn BofB/10 Indian Sqn) …….. ‘Bats’ Krohn (81/155 Sqns)…….. ‘Lulu’ Lane (43 Sqn? BofB casualty with me RWS Hosp/ MSFU with me/beheaded after forced landing when flying Hurricane comms with Chindits)

    FRONT ? ………..?………….Pat Lee (Equipper I think)

20 October 1943 Worli, Bombay. En route Jap war.

“…………Several Indian pilots got their grounding in the squadron around this time. Ranjan Dutt, MM Crishna, Suri were some of the Indians who were involved in the operations. Flt Lt EDSN ‘Eddie’ Sparkes , an RAF Pilot deputed to the Squadron has several interesting anecdotes and details of operations described on his website here. For his leadership and role in the Campaign, the CO, Sqn Ldr Doe was awarded the Distinguished Service Order (DSO) in October 45. The unit remained on the frontline and participated in operations till the end of April 1945 when it moved to Yelahanka for requipping with Spitfires. The Spitfires arrived in Mid July and No.10 was fully ops on the Spitfire by September 45 when it was moved to the Burma front again under Sqn Ldr RW Jones…..”

Dammit, yes!! Meant to include it. December ’40 – left rather late with Yvonne (WAAF) – took her home in thick fog – got lost on the way back to Northolt and had to sleep the night in the car. Woken am by passing school kids.

I can only assume that it’s the same place – no proof.

How does your thread tie in with the 2004 one?

In addition to the Dolphin in Chi, we (No 1, Tangmere) often used The Unicorn. Shall never forget the night (in 1945, when with CFE) I overstayed with a girl friend and found myself locked in!! Managed to break out over the back yard wall. Could have been embarrassing?

And when at Wittering in late ’40, we often went down to The Haycock – and a Stamford pub whose name I can’t recall.

I think that this (my first) was in my first post. Deleted somehow, but deserves a place?

Previous link was a ‘private’ one – hope this works.

Just to add that I flew this – my 4th ‘O’ – on ops in NI in early 1942.
