thats an interesting thought on CDG but as a nuclear powered vessel ever been transfered?

It would be a really interesting thing to see.

With the french not confirming that they will join the CVF project i think in the end they may use the deisgn but change it to use nuclear propulsion. They love it.

Sorry old chap. If they did go for F-18 super hornets for the airforce, a small purchase of F-18 A-D would be pretty cool given the comminality.

I would imagine that the Brazilians will want to maintain carrier ops with catapults. I wonder if the yanks would share the emnals witht hem by this date, if not they would probably be looking to put the cats from the sao paulo into a new frame ? that is if they want to look at lots of options for airwing.

I also wonder if they would be interested in one of the Invincible class when we are finnished with them. That is of course if they were allowed to purchase the F-35. They might of course be interested in buying some second hadn AV-8Bs that might be available by then. But thats a different conversation.

didnt say anything about the super hornet. I was just talking about the hornet.

More than enough plane for the Brazilians but a big step up from what they have now.

my point is that there is no plans to buy any new planes for the carrier, and my point is that 2 of the planes of offer have marinised versions, wondering if any of you would be looking to upgrade the carrier airwing and if it was likely.

I would cry with Joy if this did happen.

F-35 C with more range, better internal space. The ability to use the hawkeyes ability to buy C-2 grey hounds.

Also the ability for French and American planes to land aboard the CVFs – i know this is stupid but I always got a little jealous watching the French pilots launching of the US carriers.

what do I want from the FM400?

I want an ASW based design with the following. 4 x Harpoon tubes, 1 x RAM (aa).

Not looking for Land attack or serious AAW.

Im thinking about switching my Multi purpose frigate from the Formidable class to the FM400 but im struggling to find prices – even rough ones.

I would be looking for 12 hulls with them all fitted for ASW – land attack can be handled by the F-100

Any one have any info on likely costs.

Also to point out that with regards to the Formidable class I would be looking to make some changes and limit its use from what It can do at the moment. Im looking for something that Fills the C2 kinda role.

I wouldn’t mix F100 & Formidable class. Too many different radars, missiles & combat systems, from too many different suppliers.

Got to take into account infrastructure & other build up costs, as well as the price of equipment. I reckon that if you have a £35 bn capital budget, at least half would have to go on the ancillary bits & pieces: shore accommodation, port facilities, etc.

I said forget everything but buying the ships e.t.c come on have a little fun.

How about switching the F100’s for fully kitted out T45’s? That would give you a common Anti-Air missile for both the AA combatant and GP combatant, as the Formidable’s have Aster as their SAM.

You have also only used 14.5 Billion, less then half the specified procurement budget.

I just dont like the Type 45 that much and at £1 bill a ship they are too much for my budget. Any chance I could put the RIM-162 Evolved Sea Sparrow Missile in the Aster – or I’ll just swap out the Aster 50 for Mk 41

Also i switched the budget to 18bill
