The problem most of people have including myself with arguing with Jonsey is that we live in the world where we wish the FAA were independent and able where as Jonsey lives in the real world and understands the needs the UK has for CVF better than most.

U.S. Says It Will Provide Hardware to Philippines

Now what kind fo Hardware. The US needs a new Perry style class it can sell to these countries to help protect them. I actually think that AEGIS equiped ships would be good but worry about the 1st the cost and 2nd who’s getting it and could it fall in the wrong hands?

Its a story about the Germans saving money.

Shape the German defense department’s reduction from today’s 3,100 military and civilian employees to 2,100.

Now if only for the UK – we could afford both carriers and the airwings to go with.

I really like the wide range of options with the Go wind. I really do feel that BAE should be looking at its own options and doing what the French have done. Build one and give it to the RN to operate and sell to the world.

So many nations out there are looking to upgrade their Navies and with little money. This Low end jack of all trades is going to be a big market. Now if we are not careful – India will get in to the market with much lower costs and so will South Korea. We have a great skill set waiting to get on with this.

They’ll answer it like they always do.

The UK is committed to its commitments overseas and at home, they believe that the changes to the armed services increases its flexibility and focuses on the current climate. Then [insert deflecting comment about overspend during labour] followed by [ insert deficit reduction important], finally finish by claimming that the UK armed forces are among the best in the world and that they will have the equipment to do the job.

Same rubbish from every government. Wish we had the likes of John McCain here, he would rip them a new one.

Adm. Mike Mullen, the chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff

“Countries who recently did their own strategic review, they found themselves getting rid of capabilities that now that they’re in a combat environment they’re giving second thought to that,” Mullen said
