The only problem with the jsf is that it absorbs european money but does not bring any valuable technology to the european aerospace industry because all the interesting workshare goes to american subcontractors.

Some will say that this is logical because the americans pay 90% of the development bill. yes, that’s right… the european should not have believed all the promises they were told, they should have realised that they would get nothing but ridiculous workshare and they should have invested their money in an european project.

The only EU partner who is going to get “limited” technological feedback from the jsf is the UK… but at a quite heavy price : they can’t participate to any european stealth project, and they are dependant of the american good will to share their advance technology with them.

Maybe the American carrier was launching – not recovering at the time?

Anyway, only the E-2 could have landed on the american carrier.

Well, I started to like Le bourget the first time I was able to go to the professional days 🙂

you can stay in the stands until 10PM if you want… there is nobody… 😮
The static display is empty, you can take all the pictures you want with a beautifull sunset and ask all the questions you want to the pilots, meca who are still around their planes.

This year my best talk was with a french pilot of the CEV who allowed me to visit his puma instrumented with various FLIR prototypes and the strix visor of the tiger helicopter… nobody seemed interested by this old loking puma…so I get a private visit. There are a lot of very interesting things like that in LeBourget… But everybody is stucked around the “stars”

    Arthur,

You talk like a tourist who spent a day on an overcrowed beach with only red fat german girl to look at 😀

Next time, you will know that there is a nice little beach with nobody but beautifull girls in bikini next to the overcrowded beach.

If you can’t get a pass for the professional days (which are very calm with about 100 times less people), you can still enter the huge parking area south of the airfield. There, you can go very very close to the runway and see all the flying aircrafts taxing and making their demo in far better conditions than in the airfield itself. And you know what ? all this for free 🙂

the best pictures you can see on airliners.net are taken from this area (Dugny) 😉

like this one for exemple : http://www.airliners.net/open.file/862878/L/

    THOMSON-CSF doesn’t exist anymore… it is Thales 🙂

The RBE-2AA (AESA RBE-2) is the future active radar of the rafale. It use the low cost active modules devevelopped thanks to the AMSAR program.

The purpose of the AMSAR was not to become a new radar. Its pupose was to develop the new technologies allowing each partner to create their own aesa radar.

    I don’t know.

I think they have just replaced the black radome of the 80ies by a radome that matches the airplane camo :

light grey for the bleu/grey camo
    green for the grey/green camo

edit : On a second thought, it seems more complicated than that : the 10 new built mirage 2000H delivered this year also has a black radome 😀
may be the air forces choose their radome color as you choose your car color 🙂

What I’m saying is why should foreign military aircraft expect unrestricted access to a military base when AMERICAN civilian aircraft have to go through red tape?

May be because it is less dangerous to keep such planes out of the civilian trafic of a commercial airport ?

The US simply said “you can’t land at this military base because you haven’t got permission but here’s a civilian airport you can land at”.

    that sounds reasonable.

However, this procedure seems odd when you have 10 foreign military aircrafts in your airspace asking for an emergy landing. I mean this is quite unespected that the USAF chose to disturb the trafic of a commercial airport instead of taking those planes in charge.

BTW, they are not very clear about what happened exactly and why.

Kovy how did you do that? It’s a neat picture. You have any upgraded F-4’s (Peace Icarus 2000 maybe?) by chance?

thx 🙂 I did it with photoshop. But this is only a derivative of a profile I did in 2002… I have just change the camo and a few markings for our Brazilian friends.

Sorry for the F-4, I only draw mirage 2000. As I’m not a professional, it takes me quite a long time 😮

Is the version on offer M2K5mk2 or M2K9 (like the UAE’s)

The mirage 2000-9 is a special version only for the UAE. The mirage 2000-5 mk2 is the same without the special features asked by the UAE (specific UAE weapons integration, IMEWS instead of ICMS mk3 ECM suite..)

But India could ask Dassault to name their mirage : mirage 2000-10 if they want 🙂
