I dont think you can blame Key – clearly the previous owner (Ian Allan) didnt want it. Why would Key want the same magazine twice? As David says, they bought the archive.

Jets has been bi monthly from the start, though as much of what it does is also covered by Aeroplane, also from Kelsey, I do wonder….

Bruce – I beg to differ having purchased every issue of “Jets” it was monthly for a significant period although the publication date bounced around a bit!!

Well personally i’m extremely hacked off with this decision !!.. i’m afraid i think Key is becoming too big for its boots and contrary to popular belief does not listen to its customers

I note with interest that “Jets” is now bi-monthly which normally means its struggling .. and i’m afraid i think the writing is on the wall for this publication

Anybody who thinks that the bucket and spade brigade who holiday in Cornwall will visit the new Airbase is living in Cuckoo land !!

I’m afraid it just doesn’t appeal to families..At least at Coventry it is within travelling distance of a large populous for a day trip

Also it would appear that the new offering will be somewhat watered down …never a good move!!

    Not rocket science!!

I cannot believe we have to have such in depth discussions on the way to administer and complete a voting form !!! – First of all just to clarify i am a long standing member of the museum who has attended all but one Cockpit Fests.

The Owls one the award because 1) they were included and 2) Families with Children related to them!!

Surely the award that really matters to the exhibitors is the one they vote for themselves appreciating the work that has been achieved by like minded people.

Interestingly my son who is an aircraft fanatic voted for the winning cockpit and the Owls! – Had they not have been included he would have voted for the Vulcan instrument panel display in H2

I always get the impression from the exhibitors that its not the winning thats important its the taking part and the “social aspect ” that this event brings

Well i was going to donate again until i received the blackmail letter in the post….Same old diatribe….Same old threats…. in my opinion it just doesn’t cut the mustard anymore

Also i don’t believe the running total…. You watch, miraculously the figure will jump.. if it hasn’t done already from a low figure to almost there.. all calculated to prick your conscience…

    My Thoughts

Well – First of all Saturday’s display was excellent – Highlights for me The Typhoon and Spitfire display along with the Chinook!! – The Gripen didn’t disappoint and of course the Vulcan was everbody’s must see.

The entry cockups and surrounding congestion on Sat morning was down to the “New” civil contractor / Events company responsible for entry, parking etc (who’s stupid idea was that? ) who failed to open the gates early enough leading to tailbacks and chaos even at 7.10am.(A15)

Also the entry lane arrangements were awful, one man and his dog each lane to do everything!!

I was disappointed not to see Air Britain or the Aviation Bookshop stalls and assume that the pricing has become prohibitive.

The Hangar displays seem to become sparser year on year

Oh well – All in all we enjoyed our 2 days which was helped by Sats weather

    Steve

PS….. Great to see the Harrier again !!

    Hunters?

Did i miss something, only saw one Hunter in the Static.

Saw plenty of JP’s on a jolly though!!

Overall thought the show, flying and static was awful – exception was the chinook display – excellent.

As for the Vulcan……….Shambolic mismanagement again!!!

It would appear that anybody with a civvie airframe is invited to Pad out a static which year on year becomes more and more boring ( only my opinion)

For all its worth … i agree with your comment on RAF commitment or lack of:)

In my humble opinion the show is getting worse year on year – Static filled with any old airframes willing to attend :diablo:…….Waiting to get shot down !!!!
