well ive only flown in a chinook, and ive never flown abroad in any kind of prop job or comercial jet but id want to fly in a halifax (yes i know there are no airworthy examples) the hurricane, mossie, lightning. oh and a herc at low level with rear door open (my dad did a lot of that and he says its fun)

yes the control tower is still there and leconfield is used by the defence school of transport and the sar flight they were going to shut the school and privatise it with the loss of 1500 jobs, but they changed their mind after the uproar by the staff and local business people who would stand to lose out if it closed. shame about driffield ************G b******S:mad: p.s. why isnt this a hot thread?! were going to lose another airfield!:mad: 😡

i drove past the hunter today and its not looking good, cockpit canopy totally smashed (open to the elements) and the nose section has the words I LOVE YOU MUM painted on it in big yellow letters wont be long before someone lobs an oily rag into it 😡

Thanks for all the advice! I’ll see what happens next month. I was thinking about Cosford but it would take about 7 hours to get there by train from London. Elvington looks manageable by train. If I was to take a taxi from York station would I be best to ask the driver to book a taxi to take me back?
yes it would be a good idea, that way you wont have to wait for the hourly bus, the naffi style cafe is good for food

elvington has very good access 20 min taxi journey from york train station with hourly conections to london which is 2/12 3 hours max
