Has anyone chased the blogger about the Heston Racer reference?

There was a website in the US that went dark in 2008 called

From ‘The Blitz then & now Vol 3’ (Night of 29/30th January 1944)

‘3/KG54 Junkers Ju88A-4 (300228). Shot down by Flight Sergeant L.W. Neal and Flight Sergeant E Eastwood in a Beaufighter MkVI of No 68 Squadron on their first operational flight. Crashed half a mile south-west of Shrubland Hall, Codenham, Suffolk, 8.40 pm. Uffz H Goergen killed, Uffz J Sprenger injured, Uffz A Zehetner and Uffz W Bruning baled out and taken prisoner. Aircraft B3+AL destroyed.

In light of the cultural differences between England’s second city and the rest of the country and also to not offend the locals. To avoid any potential misunderstanding can the moderators please consider changing the title of thread to Spitfires from Birmingham/Brum or not?

I had a quick look and could not find a Harry Bramwell in War Office there was someone with that name in 1941 at Post Office

The interesting bit is

“Mr Queenan, from Hall Green, told how he carried out the work for a man named Harry Bramwell, from the War Office in 1950 in a Castle Bromwich hangar, close to where the planes were made.”

Well as he someone was from the War Office called Harry Bramwell or Harold Bramwell you may find him in London Gazette or if he worked for 20 years he may have got MBE

The point is this story (even if it pie in sky) has a documentary source that can be attempted to be verified. Unlike some other stories

Thank you Paul, that is obviously the aircraft concerned.
Number 10 Squadron were based at Boscombe Down at the time.
The question I now have is where exactly was the crash site, the film gives some clues as it appears to show the crash point on one hill with another hill visible in the distance. A bit more research needed here I think.

All I have reference to is ‘struck high ground between Petersfield and Midhurst and “hill near Telegraph House, the home of Lord Russell”

Lord Russell = Bertrand Russell

19-Feb-36 HEYFORD K4024 of 10 Sqn crashed into hill near Midhurst, Sussex

Sgt Edward Kenneth McDermott killed,
LAC Cyril James Adams killed,
LAC George John Westlake killed,
Sgt Charles Albert Deakin escaped with injuries

also on this date HEYFORD K4034 of 97 Sqn ditched off Le Havre.

Sgt Walter Job drowned,
Aircraftman 1 – Cyril Adolphus Tregannon Bickham drowned,
Aircraftman 2 William Watkin drowned,
Flying Officer Robert Humphrey Page, chief pilot found in water and helped ashore

What ATC Sqn was that?

Gloster Gauntlet II K5289 was Maintenance Serial 3408M and SOC 29.5.40
