Site clearance, accommodation works and ground works are substantially complete at a ‘new’ UK facility being hurriedly prepared to receive a number of the Burmese MKXIV’s. Security arrangements, storage facility and workshop are awaiting final planning approval. The Planning application sought a number of single storey prefab units.
Don’t believe that… It would take ages to get the Planning Permission, enviornmental impact report, structural report etc

Yes I might have been able to meet Douglas Bader as he popped out of the Stork Hotel
I believe he’s spending some time under canvas.
Wow thats really “Intense”
“The MoD told Mail Online it had told the family the remains were unlikely to be Copping’s because no military clothing was found on the body and it was miles from the scene of the crash.”
Well obviously it could not be him then.. Don’t the MoD know we are in 2012 here rather than 1912 and they have a copper bottomed 100% way of finding out
Magic!
If he unearths some Hurricanes and a couple of Spitefuls too, that would be news! :dev2:
And anything buried in Gibraltar as well!
Stuart thanks for that – it does make it easy to see that it is just wreckage
Paul
Thanks MKV & Daz, that confirms what I thought after I’d read Morgan & shacklady. Seems wreckage that I’d seen a photo of came from a seafire also based in Malta. It seems that about 166 MKvb’s were converted to seafires so could this be one of those ! How were they converted ? what was added ?
Cheers Steve.
MB293 ?
K8B that’s the same image I had saves me a hard drive search thanks
PS. My brother’s, girlfriend’s, mate’s, uncle’s, step-father’s, uncle’s, brother used to fly Lancasters and says there’s a whole squadron of them wrapped in grease-proof paper and buried in Tierra del Fuego.
you heard that rumour too then?
Think about it. If you drill a hole down into the ground, how much are you going to see from it?
I would hope it would be one of those they use for operations or to inspect pipes or rescue Chilean Miners – i.e one with built in light!
Hi Paul…
Can’t help I’m afraid but tidied the image up…
Stu…
Wow Stu. – Thank you very very much – I have another iamge soemewhere on my hard drive – it may be same one – But I will have a look for it!

From John Battersby via Air Britain
Putnams “British Flight Testing, Martlesham Heath 1929-1939” mentions the Hawker PV.4 as a contender for Spec. G.4/31. Originally there was a requirement for a torpedo fitment but this was later substituted by dive bombing capability. Apparently of all the contenders the Hawker design was the only one specifically to have dive bombing in mind!
Squares the Circle a bit….
Hawker aircraft since 1920 – Francis K Mason
“The Hawker G.4/31-PV4 One prototype, registered IPV-4, designed to meet
requirement (General Purpose Dive Bomber) of Specification G.4/31 – Powered by Bristol Pegasus III, the PV4 was first flown on 6 December 1934, but in the following year, a Pegasus X was installed, and the aircraft registered K6926. At one time a Bristol Perseus engine was fitted, a was a Bristol Taurus”
Looking better with ‘General Purpose Dive Bomber’ = “the Hawker dive bomber”?
Paul
Niall
Thanks for that – I will punt your note to Air Britian to see if anything ‘clicks’ on it!
Kind Regards
