Gene Pitney heard that Seafire II MB190 was going to be scrapped the “very next day”, unfortunately he was “24 Hours from Tulsa” so could not stop it

The satellite photo was taken in 1999, a more recent photo taken at lower altitude does not show any ‘bomber’

Went into the Bomber Command hall and noticed that most of it was cordoned off..

I hope this wasn’t flooded 😉 Wouldn’t have seemed right…..

Probably during Norway fighting of early 1940. If snyone has a copy of Fledgling Eagles it might be in it. There were a few Royal Navy battleships with float planes on and I can remember a few scouting missions and at least one loss where crew returned to uk in captured ardo

Can you supply the name of the electrocuted 49 MU airman?

A colleague on RAF Commands is trying to tie down the circumstances of all RAF Deaths 1939 to 1945 (where possible!) and I would like to pass on to him the details to see if this mans details are currently ‘unknown’.

W/Cdr (Pilot) William H. McGUIRE – DFC – 62249;
F/Lt (Nav) Denis S. LAKE – DFM – 145490.

It was Mosquito NFXIII serial MM550 of the Night Fighter Development Unit, and it dived into Chaucer Avenue Rustington after slow roll on 17.2.45.

Can’t help with the 2 crew at moment (who were killed). However the following 3 civilans were also killed:

ARTHUR SIDNEY FOSTER aged 57 of 13 Milton Close Rustington

FLORENCE MABEL WARD aged 50 of Arcita, Chaucer Avenue, Rustington

EDWARD LEONARD VINCENT aged 63 of Suncot, Chaucer Avenue, Rustington

The aircraft hit 4 bungalows and caught fire.

Outer yellow Roundal is 1mm too small, and whole roundal needs to be position 0.4 cm to the right.

There is a direct design lineage from the Hawker biplane series to the Hurricane…

So the design may be older… but like the caterpillar is the younger version of the moth… so the Demon could be seen as the younger version of the Hurricane..
