Can anyone confirm the Spitfire and Hurricane serials?

But, Stieglitz, I only joined 5 minutes ago and seem to have achieved a high rank in no time! Mind you I have long lurking time!

I use the ABE site, which covers many many different bookshops, and have always been totally satisfied. It also has the advantage od showing the different prices for second-hand books, so you can decide to have either a cheap copy in poor condition or pay more for good condition. Foe me here in Sweden it’s perfect, as I don’t have many aviation bookshops to choose from, and books ordered via ABE arrive through the post reasonably quickly.

Albert Ross, the answer to your question was in my post:

If you are referring to Billy Fiske, Nermal, he married a British countess. Here is a quote from my post on 12 April: “The Billy Fiske article was in AM February 2004 issue, page 20, and there is mention of the forthcoming Paramount Pictures film project, to be called “The Few”, starring Tom Cruise (who else!).
He seems to have claimed several probables and damaged, but according to the article no clearly recorded and definite shoot-downs. He was nevertheless one of “the few”.”

Coincidentally, just 4 days later the prototype Comet 3, G-ANLO, first flew at Hatfield. However the Comet 3 programme was abandoned as a result of the Comet 1 problems, and 10 Comet 3 airframes were scrapped.

Just one more, Andy, I thought there was some more faint detail on it . . .

Must the total image file size conform to the 100kb limit or can each of the 5 be up to 100kb? (I just love high resolution!)

I think the secrecy agreement I signed for BAe 30 years ago still applies, so you won’t get anything from me! I also doubt that you’ll get much information from other than published sources on this, either!
However data processing in general is advancing at an alarmingly rapid rate, and I can tell you that there are up to 40 small distributed “computers” in a modern bus (road vehicle), communicating via networks with each other. They still cannot match what we were working on in the mid-70s though!

You could say that unlike ripples spreading out in all directions from the point where you drop a stone in the water, these all progress from a flat sheet (the row of dipoles). Unlike fluids, you can alter the phase of each individual “ripple” and get the wavefront to skew. By shifting the relative phases of lots of “ripples” from the adjacent dipoles, you can “aim” the wavefront to left or right, up or down. In the old days we used moving parabolic reflectors to do the same thing, but with only one horn or dipole at the focus point of the parabola. If you want to get further into this, I suggest you look at a textbook!

kodak, can you confirm that the caption for this photo is wrong? It’s from “Gloster Meteor” by Barry Jones, second page of the first colour photo section.
