plough:- You are quite correct about the not understanding of the situation,  as a whole I thought that both LC & WLDC had vested interests but I bow to your better knowledge.      Being as Scampton is basically a stones throw from Lincoln town I thought they naturally were the ones who had jurisdiction over the site and they were the leaders with the WLDC back up also.  I mentioned the Christmas Mkt thinking it was relevant as evidence of LC ignoring the will of all around them and I could imagine the same occurring as far as the Scampton debacle was concerned,  so I apologise for confusing the issue.

When I mentioned the government being spineless I stand by it simply because they are afraid of the woke brigade,  they pander to those who try to enforce their will upon others instead of simply refusing whatever issue on common-sense grounds, if they stood up to these bullyboy tactics there would be none of the issues that are now currently facing this country as a whole.

I do realise it is the government who are the problem I just think that it could so easily have been remedied if the idea like you said regarding it’s use had been taken quickly.   I mentioned in another post sometime ago when the Flying Legends was being cancelled how they could IMHO  and with a little difficulty move the whole operation to Scampton for the foreseeable future as the infrastructure is in place for such an operation with scope to utilise the parts they would not.

People assume it would be used for housing because it has happened elsewhere already and when the government own a site it makes it that much easier to ride roughshod over any opposition.  that and rather than having protests at using other fresh land whether that be expanding the sizes of current Cities,Towns or Villages making them larger or indeed just open land.

I also agree that the government along with past governments have failed to act and unless they show a positive action with regards this ever growing problem it will only continue to get worse.

I am afraid we have to take a more ruthless attitude in dealing with the illegal migration,   for one thing a lot of people confuse this with legal migration and asylum which I am all for but has to be scrutinised thoroughly.   One thing they could do is tell them if they are caught without their papers (Often dumped in the channel) it’s straight back no questions.

 Well not really unexpected given that the government are spineless ( Well I say that but I assume that there were some dissenting voices who were overridden ? ),  Instead of coming together on all sides  and standing up for common sense with the locals about this problem it. seems to me they pander to those who get upset at the slightest thing.

Also consider this is the same Lincoln town council who  have cancelled the longest running UK traditional Christmas Mkt that has been active for over 40yrs, sighting Health and Safety concerns. Yet local tory councillor asked the Police if there were any concerns and they replied in the negative.

If they can do the above at the same time cancelling all the generated income into their own town coffers and especially local businesses making money as they are reliant on,  do these people really have the heart in stopping this madness and siding with the Scampton defence ?

I imagine Councillors were assumedly elected/appointed by the local people they allegedly represent ? not only this but some appear not to care about local feeling in particular regarding RAF Scampton,  it seems they are only to pleased to help out those who should not be here in the UK in the first place, so what about helping out they’re own Homeless, Jobless, Inadequate housing, Prisons etc.etc.etc. they are not all on the con.

Seems to me that instead of actually dealing with the issue and others head on these so called politicians would rather not to actually earn a living by doing the job they were employed to do.  Those who actually try for common sense get short shrift or Pummelled or Derided by their own supposedly Party members/Colleagues IMO.

Only today many councils are now moaning about the new living wage they will have to pay to it’s employees and how they will have to get rid of some of the workforce and they services provide.

Correct me if I am wrong but aren’t Government/Councils etc. meant to work to budgets and not for profit and savings ?  Obviously you can save in one area but that would surely go to another that is costing above what you allowed ?  well it’s simple IMHO start at the top work your way down with pay cuts.

To many boss’s are on to higher wages while sitting back signing whatever instead of getting involved with the work that supposedly got them they’re promotion, you know actually being part of the answer and not the problem.

Like I say Wage cuts first at the top, getting rid of posts that are just made up, getting rid of vanity projects etc. etc. you know basically looking after the Country/City/Town/Village you represent and to hell with targets as with targets you just do not get the best person for the job,  then downwards you’ll soon meet the budgets I imagine.

Having said all the above this is just my ignorant opinion and I could be completely wrong.  I admit to having no idea about running to a business budget only knowing you can’t pay out if you do not have enough in the coffer basic economics IMO.

So sad really that such an historic I imagine Scampton will just get turned into housing once all the fuss has gone which I assume the local council are hoping for especially when a sound business plan is rejected instead for whatever gain.

One further thought just occurred:- Will the Labour dominated council get funding for this plan or are they just being humane in providing the site to facilitate illegals ?

  BF6:- Here’s another one for you that I suspect you may have already dismissed because of the expence 3D Laser Scanning ?   I got the idea funny enough while watching Gas Monkey Garage on they’re latest project.

It seems to me that it’s a logical next step if the engines are to all intense and purposes extinct,  I would think the really hard part would be having to persuade a Museum to accommodate you with the dismantle of one of their engines, then you scan all the parts and then reassemble the engine though ?
