The news item I found was the only recent story I could find, I have searched the past story’s in the Orcadian that was mentioned earlier with no luck and I am awaiting a reply to my e-mail. As stated the linked Daily Record story was posted as a matter of interest. I assumed the main story that was taken down is about a find on land with the bottom link to twitter possibly having some association with that story as this will be published in the Nov issue of Britain At War. ? other than that it is only a wild guess that the two are possibly linked. :confused:

I have just returned to the Black Mike fund raising page and I will be the first to admit I have been on the fence waiting but have now decided to donate, I am just amazed that the campaign seems to have stalled as far as donations have gone ? Only 86 donations very sad when you consider just as an example, If all the RAF personnel donated a pound it’s a done deal Black Mike saved at Bruntingthorpe with extra cash for the team that would run her :eagerness:

I found this on wiki and the last paragraph seems to fit your honourable questioning ?

P A K I acquired offensive connotations in the 1960s when used by British tabloids to refer to subjects of former colony states in a derogatory and racist manner. In modern British usage P A K I is typically a derogatory label used for all South Asians, including Indians, Afghans and Bangladeshis. To a lesser extent, it has also been applied to Arabs and others perceived to resemble South Asians. During the 60’s many emigrants were also dubbed as “black” to further segregate them from the white community. Some would say such a division still exists in parts of England.

In recent times there has been a trend by second and third-generation British Pakistanis to reclaim the word, so that it can be used between young British Pakistanis, but not by outsiders, even Indians and Bangladeshis.

As for the others you mentioned they are all slang for the various peoples from counties over the world. Just to throw the cat amongst the pigeons here 😀 Although the term WOG has the same connotations as P A K I it is actually a shortened version of Westernised Oriental Gentleman.

Well here is some well needed good news about Mr Cundall and the Claridon Groups involvement, Straight from the Horses mouth and you cannot get much better than a certain Mr Chris Scott (Group President!) I e-mailed the group for an update on the situation regarding their involvement and the following two e-mails should make their position perfectly clear!

Thank you for your mail & kind words and you are welcome and please feel free to post this on the aviation forum. As I mentioned earlier, we will be doing everything possible to help David find the Spitfires and bring them back to where they belong. I was with David in Yangon about a month ago and there are a lot of developments going on at the moment which I can’t speak about, but all positive. We are aware of the negative comments that are out there and the ridicule both David and Claridon have had – can’t quite understand how these individuals want the project to fail.

Like I said in the now locked other Burma thread why don’t the naysayers just give Mr Cundall a break, It has not been proved categorically either way about these elusive buried Spitfires! If their proves to be any buried Spitfires then we should all give a well earned pat on the back to both to Mr Cundall and the Claridon Group for their continued support of Mr Cundalls project, if on the other hand it proves to be there are none found still give them both a pat on the back and say better luck next time. :eagerness:
