Hi All,
Daz,
Are they from the US those reviews ? I really am hoping that the film is a good one but as is the trend with most films these days the trailers tend to
give the film story to entice the customers.
Geoff.
Hi All,
I contacted HHA awhile back and they say it’s down to the current CAA that none of their jets are able to fly, and I doubt if the Shoreham incident did
anything to further that decision along anybody any updates with that would be welcome…;)
Geoff.
Hi All,
I have never been a member so I don’t really know if I have a right to chip in but I will offer my opinion on the matter anyway. I thought that all IWM
venues where now free entry except display day at ‘Dux’ ? Going on the Facebook link provided by Pen Pusher I clicked on the link on
that page to another here :- https://www.surveymonkey.co.uk/r/G6MTF9K
To me although they are suggesting various options for various venues it does feel also like they are trying to suss out whether or not to start charging
again ? The survey gives you various options on what you are willing to pay for the venues and I am convinced depending on how many filled surveys
they have returned will more than likely influence what they will charge.
I have suggested before on a different thread that if the government really wanted more UK higher tax payers to cough up instead of opting for tax
avoidance schemes then give those who pay the highest tax the chance to off set that. Whether personal/business with tax break donations to
museums and restoration projects etc.etc.etc. Not just from aviation but across the board everybody a winner all those museums who are finding it
harder and harder to stay solvent would with whatever donations as tax deductible savings.
The government wins, the museums, restoration projects etc.etc.etc. all win and possibly employ more people increasing more tax payments ? instead
of charging entry for whatever venues as a money making scheme…

Hi All,
The Rain Maker via (SKY Cinema) a ‘John Grisham’ adaptation legal drama that has a few comic moments, well acted by all the cast and well

Hi All,
I read ‘Walter Lord’s-The miracle Of Dunkirk’ that gives a wide coverage of the events leading up to the operation including the rear-guard that was
left to fend off any ‘German’ attacks, all the info and quotes are from a wide range of ranks and all services and I recommend it to anybody
interested in the subject.
I think a fact often missed by many at times is there was an unseen army from all services and countries that stayed put on the ground knowing
they would either be killed or spend the rest of the war as a POW to enable the evacuation. Those are the real heroes in my book they gave the rest
a chance to regroup and fight again whenever and wherever till the end.
All armed services played their part at that time and all should be remembered for their actions as a whole in that pivotal operation.

Hi All,
TonyT,
I was thinking along the lines of how far you can take an aircraft replica to the point of being potentially airworthy if somebody would inject some money
into whatever project at a later date, i.e. with NX611 now on the rd to airworthiness.
(This is just me)Take the ‘Whirlwind Project’ as an example would the extra expense of having items replicated to airworthy standard rather than
a static replica be worth it ? Is there a vast difference in cost ? I imagine that you would use the same type of metals as you obviously want the
airframe to last ? I say this bearing in mind (Beermat please put me right) you are wanting it to be ground run ?
Well NX611 was a ground runner and look where they are going now, this is after the brothers told me:-
“If it was made airworthy then it had an accident they would lose everything they worked so hard for as a memorial to their brother ‘Chris’ so they just keep ground running her for that reason.”
Wouldn’t it save a lot of time and money replacing any static replica items to airworthy standard items with airworthy from the start ? So if circumstances
changed in the future the aircraft could be airworthy as has been done with NX611 ? I assume the main reason this would not be done is as you state
the cost is a vast between airworthy parts and materials as apposed to static parts and materials, along with the time it would actually lengthen any
project completion, No harm in dreaming about what if’s eh! ?…..
Geoff.
Hi All,
The documentary was average with all to often used footage and the title was misleading IMHO, the first 25/30mins dedicated to the ‘Dunkirk’
history with 15/20mins about the so called new evidence and 10mins about the recovered/restored spitfire N3200 and the legend that was the plane and
details about the pilots who flew at the time sadly.
I was expecting some revelations of what really happened but like some on here disappointed with the finished article…:(
Geoff.
While on the subject of ‘Flying Legends’ what about the hanger queen ‘Beaufighter’ any developments anybody ?
Geoff.
Hi All,
Suicide Squad. Via (SKY Cinema), A good addition to the ‘DCU’ would like to see the film with all the alleged ‘Joker’ edits restored as there are
meant to be quite a bit of him edited out, still all in all a good film that just keeps going for 2Hrs, just a shame the soundtrack never included
‘Ballroom Blitz’ like it does in the trailer would have made a great addition IMPO…. 😎
Starring:-Will Smith,Jared Leto,Margot Robbie,Joel Kinnaman,Viola Davis,Jai Courtney,Jay Hernandez,Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje,Ike Barinholtz,
Scott Eastwood,Cara Delevingne along with cameos from Ben Afleck and Ezra Miller to link the League Of Justice films that are coming out soon.
Figuring they’re all expendable, a U.S. intelligence officer decides to assemble a team of dangerous, incarcerated supervillains for a top-secret mission.
Now armed with government weapons, Deadshot (Will Smith), Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), Captain Boomerang, Killer Croc and other despicable
inmates must learn to work together. Dubbed Task Force X, the criminals unite to battle a mysterious and powerful entity, while the diabolical
Joker (Jared Leto) launches an evil agenda of his own.
Geoff.
Hi All,
Mr Merry,
I suppose at the end of the day it would come down to what the owner would rather put his time and effort into, if as you are hinting then it’s
understandable why the aircraft is for sale and being perfectly honest I for one would rather see a replica Whirlwind also I would think that
you cannot run both restorations with limited funding sadly, none the less a worthy cause for an injection of money which should result in an
excellent looking aircraft.
Talking of the replica ‘Whirlwind’ or any replica come to that matter, when building the aircraft do you build it as a potential airworthy ? i.e. If the
chance came about or just a pure look alike aircraft internally and externally that as has been suggested just a possible ground running airframe
Geoff.
Hi All,
Kenneth,
Absolutely true matey…;)
Geoff.
Hi All,
I can’t help but wonder why such a fine example is for sale from the owners ? Unless it all comes down to having the cash to finish the project off to
completion but a potentially airworthy project is there. I suppose not only having the cash to finish the project but more cash to operate the aircraft
along with maintenance and hanger costs etc.etc.etc.
Assuming financing problems of the project goes someway as an explanation for the projects sale, it’s just a shame that so many projects start and
are never brought through to their hoped for fruition due to the ever changing financially orientated world we now live in. It is even sadder when
those with good intentions are affected, especially after all the careful planning who at one point say yes we can afford that only to find a few years
down the line everything has changed forcing them to pull the plug. Either a philanthropist or a museum need to get hold of this project before it just
becomes another victim of the current climate we all live…..:apologetic:
Geoff.
Hi All,
The Legend Of Tarzan Not to bad just about watchable full of special effects mostly good but at times poor, also funny in a couple of places, another
fine performance by ‘Christoph Waltz’ playing a sleazy scumbag and not one utterance of ‘Mother4ker’ from ‘Samuel Jackson’ 😀 Still if you want to while away
an Hr&1/2 then give it a go, to be honest it’s not as good as the ‘Christopher Lambert’ film ‘Greystoke Legend Of Tarzan’ but that’s just my opinion…..;)
Starring:-Alexander Skarsgård,Margot Robbie,Samuel L. Jackson,Christoph Waltz,Djimon Hounsou,Jim Broadbent,Casper Crump,Hadley Fraser,
Genevieve O’Reilly,Yule Masiteng,Mimi Ndiweni,Simon Russell Beale,Matt Cross,Madeleine Worrall and William Wollen.
It’s been nearly a decade since Tarzan (Alexander SkarsgÃ¥rd), also known as John Clayton III, left Africa to live in Victorian England with his wife Jane. Danger lurks on the horizon as Leon Rom (Christoph Waltz), a treacherous envoy for King Leopold, devises a scheme that lures the couple to the Congo. Rom plans to capture Tarzan and deliver him to an old enemy in exchange for diamonds. When Jane becomes a pawn in his devious plot, Tarzan must return to the jungle to save the woman he loves.
