Ejecting from a Flea could be…interesting!
Great blog and as others have said, nice to see such an engagingly silly little aircraft getting some love.
What a glorious sight!
If i remember rightly and i may be wrong but at Legends 2012 didn’t 3 Mk Ia Spitfire fly starting the show ? so with these two does that mean their are 5 now in flying condition as well as the Mk IIa with the BBMF ?
Four: N3200, P9374, X4650, AR213.
Legends 2012 was the latter three.
Not sure if there are any more in the pipeline? I heard ages ago that X4276 is on its way but not sure if it’s still moving forward. Should have got that book!
Think I saw you both departing! Hope the trip back was OK…
Brilliant stuff! Glad to see her out of the dusty shed and ready for some TLC!
Seconded, not a conflict I knew much (if anything) about. Nice to see Gauntlets, CR32 and 42, Vickers Valentia and Bristol Bombay on film too!
They’re quite wide and not very tall. Perhaps the sliding section from a Barracuda, at a guess?
Great shots as ever. That Hornet Moth really is in a stunning scheme, with the carmine red fuselage, silver wings and white-outlined reg letters! 😀
Yeesh. As well as a protective cage did the poor gunner have some kind of protective earwear? No way today’s H&S would allow you that close to an engine without!
That’s quite an achievement, had not heard of this project.
I am quite ignorant of WW1 heavy bombers and took a while to realise where the third engine was mounted-the flight photo doesn’t make it obvious!
Can’t help thinking that the OFMC “Heinkel” would look perfect as a permanent restored inhabitant of the BoB display. Seems a shame that it’s still languishing in Hangar 5-but surely it ought to be OK for static restoration? After all, it’s been sat indoors for years.
Great shots as always! Red Kite is still a bit of an unusual species in Cambridgeshire I believe.
Mallard: might have got in a tiff with another male over breeding rights? Nesting is in full swing this time of year.
Is that a new scheme for Super Cub G-SVAS, or a visiting machine? Looks the bees’ knees anyhow.
I’m really looking forward to seeing the Camel fly!
Great pics as ever. I’m getting all excited for the Old Warden season now!
Great stuff, thanks for posting! Very nicely filmed too 🙂
If you want to play that game….:)
I won’t mention such world beaters as Whitneys, Stirlings, Hamptons, Defiants, battles…or most of the other types the RAF was forced to go into battle with in the early days of the war.
Cheers, and we won’t mention the Douglas Devastator, Brewster Buffalo, early B-26, etc which didn’t exactly have a stellar combat record!
