May be of interest? http://www.historyofwar.org/articles/weapons_spitfire_PR.html
Really exciting project…is this 4 PRIVs that are potentially being rebuilt now? Love the PR Spitfire’s, and these early aircraft will be a pleasure to see. Would be great to see a PR IV, XI and XIX line up.
Hi, there I see a photo of MH880 which may help? https://goo.gl/images/UxwWsE
May be worth searching a few serial numbers either side to see if you can get confirmation of their mod standard, which could help solve your query?

Could still be the longest Spitfire FIGHTER flight as PL972 was a photo recon aircraft…? Good luck and look forward to following your progress.
Think I may have answered my own question – they look like gun heat intensifier tubes?
Along similar lines have often wondered what could still be out in Asia. There was mention of aircraft in the jungles still to be found?
Is that a US market B-25 under the nose of the 109?
We should also mention ML417…converted by Vickers to a trainer, but restored back to single seater config.
Wasn’t SM832 going to be restored as a mk VIII originally albeit in single seat form?
Great news. She is looking great. One question though – does anyone know why she has the six exhaust stubs fitted per side instead of the 3 a side a mk V would normally have?
Just saw this on eBay and remembered need me. Of this thread. Could this be an original picture, or more likely a copy? http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&alt=web&id=362225894089&globalID=EBAY-GB

Unfortunately, it does not look like he made it home.
Looking at 542s ORB, it could be PO L G Roberts who was flying?
