Blair is lobbying F136 apparently because of the involvement of RR
1 belongs to UK co, one belongs to US Inc, so you choose
After review, I think CJ2000 is a big thrust engine core, so some corrections here:
Chinese Turbofan engines developed or under development:
0. WS-9, licensed copy of RR spey
1. WS-10 by AVIC1: for J10/J11 3 generation fighters and future airlifters
2. WS-11 by AVICII: for trainers
3. WS-12?
4. WS-13 by AVICI: for future FC-1
5. WS-14 by AVICI or II?: ?
6. WS-15 by AVICI: T/W 10 grade big thrust Turbofan engine could be
based on CJ2000 core? Model number confirmed.
7. WS500 by AVICI: for UAV and missiles
I’d love to answer ‘yes’ to that but the issue here really is blindingly obvious and – thanks to your post – we can see you’ve had it spelled out for you on two forums no less!.
Ridiculous, Tell me, Oracle, why ANNUALEX 2006 happened in oct but ANNUALEX 2005 in Nov? Hey, for you to send in one slow moving boat without notice, every hour counts but yet you let go weeks in time deficit but still so confidently say Yes? You want to fantasy story talking or some reasonable discussion?
Its interesting to note the line below the one you highlighted:
“During this deployment, Kitty Hawk will also take part in ANNUALEX 2006, a joint exercise between the U.S. Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.”
Now utilising all my skills and brilliance, involving complex intelligence procedures (searching on the internet), I was able to localise the USN oparea for ANNUALEX 2005!. In early November last year the USS Kittyhawk was steaming around the Sea of Japan and down near, you guessed it, Okinawa!.
Okinawa! Great, so 100 or 200 kms up & down or to the east or to the west of Okinawa will make you totally clueless for whereabouts of the CVBG, use the 100-200 kms as the radius to draw a circle in your map, you won’t be surprise to find the total area is 30000 sq Kms to 120000 sq kms, You are fantastic to talk your SSK running at 4-5 knots to combing of 30000 – 120000 kms area in order to perform a “surfacing” show. Judged from your reply so far, of course you also believe the Kitty Hawk visited say somewhere 100 kms east of Okinawa last year will be visiting the same spot at the same time this year.
It takes neither genius nor a competent ocean-survillance capability to station a couple of SSK’s to patrol the exercise areas the 7th fleet have used repeatedly at this time of year.
What?! A couple of SSKs waiting in a area to be as vast as tens of thousands of sq kms hoping for a close glance of the charming “ Kitty Hawk” just miles away? Do you really believe USN submarines also practice your “fortune teller” style tactics to locate the fleet but no real time information input from surveillance? Are they playing this near the narrow water way or vastly open ocean? Finally, the SSN is faster and much longer haul than SSK.
Dont be disheartened though Pinko, we all know how you love feverishly waving your flag so you go right ahead – I’m sure no one will mind!
If only you’re real oracle..
Jonesy,
Are you really so superb by reading the below news briefing then you can insert your slow moving SSK into the route of a moving CVBG
Kitty Hawk Strike Group Gets Underway
http://www.news.navy.mil/search/display.asp?story_id=26118
Story Number: NNS061018-13
Release Date: 10/18/2006 11:55:00 AMBy Mass Communication Specialist Seaman Matthew Reinhardt, USS Kitty Hawk Public Affairs
USS KITTY HAWK, At Sea (NNS) — USS Kitty Hawk (CV 63) and its strike group departed Yokosuka, Japan, Oct. 17, for a fall deployment with embarked Carrier Air Wing 5 after completing a month of maintenance.
The strike group is expected to return to Yokosuka by the end of the year.
Other ships departing with the Kitty Hawk Tuesday included the guided-missile cruiser USS Cowpens (CG 63), and guided-missile destroyers USS John S. McCain (DDG 56), USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62) and USS Mustin (DDG 89).
The destroyer USS Stethem (DDG 63) and guided-missile frigate USS Gary (FFG 51) left Yokosuka last week.
About 7,400 Sailors departed with the eight ships, including more than 5,200 aboard Kitty Hawk alone.
Kitty Hawk, leading the Navy’s only forward-deployed carrier strike group, will spend the underway period conducting carrier qualifications, drills and exercises in the U.S. 7th Fleet area of responsibility. 😮
During this deployment, Kitty Hawk will also take part in ANNUALEX 2006, a joint exercise between the U.S. Navy and the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force.
During the brief in-port period, Kitty Hawk Sailors worked with Ship’s Repair Facility workers, and Japanese contractors on several hundred maintenance projects, said Lt. Cmdr. Billy Partington, Kitty Hawk’s maintenance officer.
“The ship’s engineers had to work extra long hours fixing extra discrepancies that were discovered as maintenance was performed,” said Partington. “Their efforts brought [the ship] back up to 100 percent [mission] capable.”
The Kitty Hawk Strike Group is the largest carrier strike group in the Navy. It includes Kitty Hawk, the aircraft squadrons and staff of Carrier Air Wing 5, USS Shiloh (CG 67) and Cowpens, and Destroyer Squadron 15 staff. The group’s ships and destroyer squadron staff are based at Fleet Activities Yokosuka, Japan, and the air wing and staff are based at Naval Air Facility Atsugi, Japan.
How dare you Jonesy question the unparalleled ingenuity and tactical superiority of the almighty PLAN?! Do you not see the great tracking capabilities demonstrated by the PLAN in stationing their sub in an announced exercise area for the USN and JMSDF forces? Oh what brilliance! I am a convert, honest to God, I tell ya. All hail the PLAN!
Your concern has already been addressed somewhere else:
…As a former CV-63 crewmember, I got to say something about the internet allegation.
1. “EMAIL MATURITY”-every once in a while, we were reminded NOT TO DISCLOSE ANYTHING ABOUT THE SHIP’S MOVEMENT when emailing messages out. If the onboard censors found those, not only those messages were not sent out, but the sailor involved would find him(her)self in very hot water, and email priveleges could be turned off for the entire ship!
2. Even if the info. about CV-63 is dislosed on the Navy websites, it doesn’t include precise coordinates, course & speed at any given time! So, to use the internet dislosures to berate PLAN capabilities is as shallow and flimsy as saying that Sitting Bull and other chiefs won at the Littlle Big Horn because they must have studied at the military academy!
Any speculation on the expected thrust of WS-15? I believe will be at least more than 1,5000kg of thrust! 😀

…It came out last year, but huitong just decided to post it again. Honestly, the only thing I got out of this is that it’s called WS-15.
The news you posted is not by Huitong but Maya, the news appeared on AVICI website never says the “new type of turbofan engine” is called WS-15 but the Hong Yuan website goes further by showing it in the attached photo.
The reports contains substantial information because it’s the official website to confirm or release any Chinese military aviation engines for future fighters. No other sources can be more “authorized” than the AVICI’s engine plants.
More than we know the new engine going to be called WS-15, we also know the Chinese 4th gen fighter is underway and it will NOT be powered by any WS-10 variants but a brand new type engine now we know is WS-15.
check the date on it, seems to be old news.
To be exact, the news is appeared on 13 Sept, 2005 ( 1.htm)
http://www.hyfcc.com/xinwen/gongzuo/25/
But don’t know how, the news only released to the public recently, maybe the domain only be accessible to public recently.
No matter how the article does confirm the “New type of Turbofan engine” (WS-15 ) will power future Chinese 4th Generation fighter jet ( Western standard).
OMG!
China have finished core engine development of T/W 10 grade Turbofan engine and now entering model development stage?! The next generation turbofan engine after WS-10 is revealed and it’s called WS-15 according to the Xian Hong Yuan Aviation Forging & Casting Industry Company , a subsidiary of AVIC1 which also provide forging parts to the WS-10A “Taihang”
The banner in the below image reads: Delivery Ceremony for the FORGING parts of WS-15:

The image is from Hong Yuan’s website and here’s the detailed report form the same site( In Chinese).
The only one reporting this is the US military. It was the same with the Han class SSN that tailed another carrier a few years back. An indication that this happens on a regular basis.
So sounds more like a US Navy ploy to get more funding than anything else.
Yes, but also we can’t ignore the internal twist between PLAN “submarine” faction and lately media stolen “ aircraft carrier” faction.
The key PLAN man in this encountering is said to be General Ding yiping, who was demoted when a PLAN 035 SSK sunk with lost of 70 lives in 2003. However, he made a comeback as depute Chief of PLAN just in sept this year, He probably was eager to score 1 or 2 for his newly promotion and boost the now a bit fading influence of the “submarine” faction.
Thus, I don’t see this encountering is merely by chance or “Luck”, however, an event carefully organized and coordinated by the PLAN “submarine” faction represented by General Ding.
If so, then we know actually PLAN lacks no “situational awareness” around the East China Sea at all, quite contrary to some people suggested that PLAN doesn’t have enough such capability in the “Strongest Asian Navy” thread. A SSK without being detected must be in low speed, and have to rely solely on external info for positioning itself well into the routine of the highly mobilized CVBG in deployment. Such routine of CVBG is classified. How to track the moving of CVBG depends on PLAN’s reconnaissance.
seems that the chinese foreign department denied this incident.
I listened personally to the original words from the Chinese foreign Ministry’s speaker, She said then her ministry “Never heard” such incident. But to the international media, it becomes “Deny”, I think there’re the differences between “Never heard” and “deny”.
BARS is the overweight Radar even Russian Airforce doesn’t equip if my memory serves correctly. Of course when they promoted sales then, they could put up the advertising words like” a Radar so advanced that even our own force yet to equip”, so, you can see who indeed hooked by the beautiful words.
No, at least Russians are leading China in Aviation engine development area, They can mature the T/W 10 grade engine faster than Chinese if they want. T/W 10 grade engine should be one important benchmark of Gen5 fighter.
Chinese next generation T/W 10 grade engine still in core engine development stage, at least 10 years away from service.
… and maybe the US fleet let it come this close purposely. (i.e. we don’t know whether the sub was not detected and tracked all the way in)
Remember when in 2003, a couple of EA-6B from a by passing CVBG were briefly jammed by land based PLA stations in Fujian province. The CVBG reiterated by launching a brief EW war on the coast area where the PLA EW units based. The words then were: the Yankees still got the edge despite the PLA has accessed the top secret EP-3 spy plane.
So apple to apple, the USN will never show it’s in weak mind.
