Well WS-10A is designed & optimized to power fighter jets but because of fuel economic and other concerns are not suitable to power commercial airliners.
But think of China built the WS-10A around the CFM-56 core engine which is used to power such airliners, I think AVIC1 can develop WS-10 variants to power big plane by changing by pass ratio, using bigger fan etc.
The engine seems to have a fatter waist than the AL-31F. I wonder if they will bring a display sample of the engine.
That could be due to the PMR-15 ( attached image)style composite materials used in WS-10A waist part while AL31FN doesn’t have such that gives the fatter impression?

Ya, the LS-6 Chinese style of “ JSOW” will be showcased at the coming Zhuhai airshow. I think this time it’s worth to paying a visit just thinking that the WS-10A Turbofan engine will be revealed there, that carries more weight than display a FC-1 or even J-10 to me. Hopeful there’ll be more features disclosed on WS-10A during the AVIC1’s news conference.
Sweet!!
WS-10A Turbofan Engine up-close
No doubt it’s For single engine powered J-10 fighter jet.

There will be a news announcement on WS-10A “Taihan” during Zhuhai Airshow

At last, AVIC1 put its WS-10A “ Taihan” Turbofan engine on show.
It will be exhibited in the coming Zhuhai Airshow, so finally we have the 1st shot of WS10A in an open source. Anyway, anyone goes to Zhuhai this coming Nov? 😀 Hope more images afterwards.

Here’s my 2 cents posted at the beginning of this year:

And here’s the discussion carried out then, although is almost 1 year passed, but the information is still generally correct IMO.

Then there’s pentagon report , inside the report it mentioned there’re 2 new versions of J10 is currently under development. Of course we know Pentagon got its source more than just searching the WWW.
PLAAF indeed got squadron, but it is totally different from the western one, squadron in PLAAF is 1 level below the Battalion( or Dadui in Chinese).
From the EXIF , the photo was taken more than 2 years ago? Could be the 1st batch of J10s handed over to PLAAF
Sorry, should be the 2nd production batch, the 1st batch should be from 01-09 forming the 1st battalion of 131 regiment of 44th aviation division, this should be the 2nd battalion of 131 regiment
Yes, at least we got it right, the J10 already formerly entered service more than 2 years ago, but still some ppl are hard to believe and thinking it’s still under test!
Well, I’m NOT against such thinking, anyway, the upgraded J10 prototype is indeed under testing NOW… 😀

Too bad the unit numbers have been censored. Would have told us the regiment where these planes are headed to. 04 prototype suggests this photo is taken a few months later after the pics of 3rd Division J-10s appeared. J-10s look like in a ferry state. 3 external fuel tanks no missiles for drag, they’re set to go for a long journey, I think towards the east coast.
….
This one shows J10 with number and of course not PSed, sure you will like it 😉
Pot-kettle.
Why bother? 😮 The emptiest vessel makes the most noise, 😀 I won’t be bothered by a bird cha-cha outside my window, would you? 😎
RN? The Rafale proposal is just the 2 cent worth bargaining chips now already thrown away.
Politics do play a role, thus u can think why Rafale lost the battles to old charming lady F-15 in US influenced countries like Singapore/South Korea, and in Europe, it just lost to another American product F-35. so, in Asia, even less American influenced countries selected F-15, how about Yankee’s strongest ally in Asia?
There’s a rule issued by no other reads: either you are with us or against us. So of course there’s huge difference
