    RE: Landing Gear Up

I think basically the gear comes up asap after takeoff, to reduce drag. Also, it can only withstand certain speeds safely, so needs to be tucked away.

Btw, what are you doing in the AW forum, Kelly? 😉

    RE: Abuse in the cabin

the no smoking was introduced to improve the air…

But it wasn’t just the front and back of the a/c… it was the back of each cabin, so if you even if you were at the front of economy, you were gatting smoke from Business cabin right in front…

    RE: Small Challenge…Identify the airlines.

well, as wyswig said, the last one’s a sunexpress 737, most of them have white tails, but some ex-LH aircraft originally retained the dark blue on the tails.

I’m pretty sure the last one’s a 767, and I know the flag… just can’t remember which country it is. It’ll come to me…

ok, they did, then… my mistake (but hey, we’re talking pre80’s here… I was 1 when thet plane was sold)

I had a look on a.net, there are three Loganair Trislanders, but they all have the same livery, and it isn’t that one above…

hmm, had a look at the loganair website, and their brief history dosen’t mention trilanders, though they are a BN Islander operator.

nah… loganair have had the same scheme as long as I can remember (excluding the BA franchise colours, obviously…) and it ain’t that.

    ANyway, they’ve never operated trislanders…

Maybe it’s one of Aurigny’s flying adverts?

Is Air BC not just a franchise, like BA Express? Air BC flies in the West of Canada (around BC, funnily enough), and there’s another one in the east… Air Ontario or something?

RE: We never speak about this one :why?

    I’ve only flown on it twice, ZRH-LHR-ZRH, in 91 or 92, I think…

This is the a/c I came back from London on, I remember it because it’s names after the Kanton I lived in at the time.

RE: Airbus gets order for 10 aircraft from Lufthansa

they’re to replace the A310’s on LH’s medium range fleet (North Africa and the middle East), although they may possibly also be deployed on some less busy transatlantic routes.

If they do go transatlantic, they’ll be the first LH twin to cross the Atlantic, as previously they’ve always used at least trijets for transoceanic routes.

I’m pretty sure Clyde1 use the IRN-BRU liveried Bell ranger for their reports…

In fact, I’m sure. Showbiz Shaz was in FHM’s local radio lovelies (or something… it was a while ago) and said she was up in the chopper most mornings for the Bowie Boy’s breakfast show…

    personally I think a 737 transatlantic flight would be a nightmare…

And as for doing it in a low cost configuration cabin… noooooooooooo!!!

    RE: BGY ? LIN? MXP???

MXP is the newer Milan airport (Malpensa), where all the airlines are supposed to move to. I believe it’s about an hour away from the city centre by road. Bergamo isn’t too much further, either, LUG is also pretty close, but only LX fly there (I think) so you’d have to go either via ZRH or BSL.

Is it Davos you’re going to? prob. easier just to get a train from ZRH, via Chur if you are.
