nope, it’s definately got a US reg. and yes, there may be more than one… there was a feature on the first one in AW issue 2.

lemme go and look it up.

but first, I’m gonna nip along to BSL and see if I can snap that KAL 744F again.

yup, and there’s an AMS flight, too, although I can’t remember if both KLM and easyjet operate the route, or if it’s just one of them.

Incidentally, that Albino BY 75 seems to have a problem with it…

    From The Herald
CELTIC players and officials were stranded in Lithuania early today after an insect in the instruments dramatically forced the pilot of their plane to abandon take-off at the last minute.

The official party, accompanied by a number of journalists, were heading home after their comfortable 4-0 Champions League qualifying round victory over Kaunas last night when the incident happened.

The Boeing 757 came to a sudden halt as it sped down the runway because the pilot realised the airspeed indicator had broken down.

One journalist aboard said: “There was mild panic. Things like spectacle cases and magazines started flying about the inside of the plane.”

The pilot was forced to take the plane back to the standing position. He informed the passengers that he had aborted take-off because of a problem with the airspeed readings – caused by an insect in the system. “It looks like some kind of bug has flown in. Unfortunately, by the time the engineers fish it out, it (the gauge) has to be tested and obviously there’s no testing kit.”

Ronnie Hawthorn, Celtic operations manager, said: “The air speed indicator wasn’t working and so he didn’t know what speed he was doing on the runway and aborted take-off.

“It’s unusual, but we have to do this because of safety.”

At 2.25am local time, passengers were told the plane could not leave until a testing kit for the gauge was flown out from the UK. The kit was sent out overnight, but it was not expected that the flight would be able to leave until midday today at the earliest.

Passengers were taken by coaches back to accommodation in Kaunas. Flight captain Tim O’Dell said: “We have made a decision to stay here tonight. The engineer has seen the problem, but it’s the testing that’s the problem. We will have to fly the system to Lithuania from the UK.”

The incident conjured up memories of Rangers’ trip to Paris for **** Advocaat’s last game in charge of the club in December 2001. They were jetting in to face Paris St Germain in the UEFA Cup when the plane aborted landing as another aircraft sat on the runway.

Celtic were looking to return for a friendly with Arsenal at Parkhead on Saturday, but that could be affected by the delay.

Apart from last night’s events, the club could face an on-the-pitch problem through a hamstring injury suffered by Henrik Larsson 14 minutes from the end of their rout of FBK Kaunas. Martin O’Neill, the manager, will discover the extent of the injury this morning.

Isn’t that just typical of Journos to get all panicky? 😉

Incidentally, the aborted landing in Paris alluded to was a bmi A321 at CDG. Must be something about that size of plane…

hmm, well, dunno about that… (;)) but don’t forget to wish The Cousins on William from Embra and from Dundee well, too…

Actually, no, cancel that… wish Dundee well. tell Hearts to gtf.

Anyway, 4-0 in Kaunas, so it looks like the Tic’re through to the next round already.

Having said that, the Champions League is on STV and Sky this season, so a run in there for either half of the OF will mean you don’t get to travel round europe. Unless you go as close personal friend of the Chickster. 😉

The Smithsonian’s already got an ex-AF concorde, so surely it’d be better to give it to someone else?

How about somewhere north of Watford Gap? (and don’t say MAN…)

yeah, I had a return flight with Swissair on a 310 back in ’90, can’t recall anything to complain about as a pax.

As far as bad reports, they all seem to be coming from Kabir, and we all know what he thinks of Airbus a/c, anyway… 😉

right, got the AF timetable in front of me now, and according to it, they operate 777’s on the following routes:

CDG-JFK (also operate 747’s on some flights on this route)
    CDG-IAD
CDG-LAX (again, also operate some 747’s here)
    CDG-SFO
    CDG-PVG
    CDG-SIN-CGK
    CDG-ICN
    CDG-KIX
    CDG-ATL
CDG-BOS (also operate A340’s on this route)
    CDG-EZE-SCL
CDG-MEX (also operate some 767’s on this route)
    CDG-CAI
    CDG-DXB
CDG-BEY (also codeshare with MEA on this route, who use 32S’s & A330’s)
    CDG-LAD
    CDG-JNB

regarding seating, I dunno, I haven’t been on the 777, but according to the seat map, 3-3-3 in economy, 2-2-2 in First
    and 2-3-2 in business.

I, like you, wasn’t convinced with the 340’s 2-4-2 in economy (it’s 2-2-2 in both cabins up the front)

Of course, these routes are not guaranteed to be operateb by 777, but it’s probably a fair representation of when to expect a 777. so, Hand, you may be in for at least 1.

the bmi baby at PIK thing…

there’s an introductory offer of something like 10’000 seats at a fiver a go on the CWL route, bmibaby having moved to PIK because of higher rates at GLA. baby are also offering free train tickets to Glasgow Central from Prestwick, so that may well be why it’s selling more at the moment.

As regards the EMA route, it’s unlikely to move from GLA, because they’d rather go head to head with easyjet from the same airport on the route.

How about SFO with Oakland just across the Bay? Again, not strictly the same city, but certainly serviceable by both communities.

Ren, personally, I think we should just bomb the whole of East Renfrewshire, and thereby regain Braehead for the City. 😛

Oh, and while we’re bombing places, can we get rid of Embra? 😉

Nah, seriously, does anyone really care where an airport is… as long as it’s accessible. I don’t have a problem with PIK, except there are to many Ayrshire Neds about… (although I won’t suggest bombing them as Killie Pies are too good to do away with… ;))

Met Liam Gallagher in a pub in Basel once, and (is there anyone on here who hasn’t done security at gigs?) once almost refused Lenny Kravitz entry to his own gig cause he didn’t have his backstage pass with him (It could have been anyone… I mean, imagine walking about with a towel over your head so as not to be photographed).

Apart from that… bumped into Gavin Hastings outside Murrayfield a couple of years ago, but I think that’s about it…

I thought the AC 340 flight recently launched (Delhi? I can’t remember the destination) was the only flight from North America to the subcontinent?

Or was that the only non-stop flight?

The A310 flight routes via BHX (I think)… can’t see that the demand is there for a full 777, though.
