only two UK airlines I’ve flown on are BA and BD (before they were bmi), I’d probably rate BA higher, despite their attrocious all day delis (it’s a while since I’ve had a rant about them… ;))
well, that’s easily remedied… Buy yourself a ‘great’ bed for at home, and next time you’re flying, stand sideways in the aisle. 😉
AH… I thought that picture looked familiar, I’ve just worked out where from, there was an article about it in Swiss magazine jetstream last month..
It’s D-AHIC, which, for three days last December was used as a Demo aircraft for a proposed MMA (Multi Mission Maritime Aircraft), which Boeing hope to be able to sell to the US Navy (who’ve given them a $7Million contract to develop such an aircraft) and other Naval forces.
The proposition would see the possibility of Torpedoes and other Missiles being fitted to the wings, as a succesor to the P-3 Orion.
Germany and Italy are also looking to replace their ageing Breguet Atlantique fleet, which is why a german aircraft (with a modified interior) was used for the demo flights over the Med. (there have already been similar flights in the States, apparently).
Airbus are vieing for the contract, too, and to that end, EADS and Aeronautica Alenia have a concept called the MPA320, based on the A320, which they hope to sell to the European countries.
The orders are due to be made some time in teh next couple of months.
Incidentally, the plane pictured above isn’t Air Berlin, it’s Hamburg International.

Aye, except that the Unions are now threatening to ballot members about official strike action.
I was caught up in the mayhem last time BA had a major strike, 6 years ago, when cabin crew staged a three day walkout.
more to the point, how low was he? both the Ship and the wing look in focus, so they can’t be that far apart, unless it’s an optical illusion. (although, judging by the size of the boat, it is a mile or two away)
SE-KSI is a Saab 340. There’s only one pic of it in a.net, it appears to be based in the States, operating for Express II.
Anyway, to go on… Lufthansa Cityline used (might still, for all I know) to operate a Dash 8 registered D-BELT.
should they not be in the AFM forum rather than here?
MY dad gets upgraded to First Class from Club World 3-4 segments a year on BA Transatlantic (he does about 18-20 return trips a year), but then, that might just be down to thc Gold Executive Club FF card…
shouldn’t that have a ‘retail’ in the middle?
jeez, you’re confusing now…
you like Aussie Rules, but you call rugby, football? so what do you call Aussie rules? Aussie rules, I suppose…
BA Club World (the Longhaul Business Class product) is superb.
First Class is supposedly even better, I wouldn’t know, I haven’t been, although I’m told Virgin is pretty much the same.
On the whole, I’d say, if you’re not looking to collect Miles, you’re probably as well just going for whichever is cheaper…
Well, that Blue and Yellow Ikea looking building in the background is the museum, and it dosen’t look like it’s on a lowloader to me…
There’s something strange about seeing Concorde on the ground with the nose up, though…
In fact, there’s something sad about seeing Concorde on the ground at all. *sigh*
 What has Eurostar got to do with flying to Australia?
nb for those that don’t know, one of Eurostar’s co-owners is one of the Virgin group (I forget which one exactly…)
Actually, come to think of it, you can collect Miles with United Mileage Plus for travelling on Eurostar, does anyone know if you can with Virgin Flying Club?
Latest info is that ALL T1 flights up till 3pm today are cancelled. That’ll be 23 hours since the last BA flight from T1. 😮
There must be some pretty hacked off pax about…
Of course the longhaul flights are still coming in, they’re T4, after all…
