I don’t know why the Chinese could not improve the 2000 kg weapons payload of the F-7 after so many upgrades. With a little bit more load, it could have been more attractive to some potential buyers.
It probably has everything to do with the power of its engine. It probably doesn’t have enough excess thrust for any more safety margin with its max load.
If LM made an F-16 Lite, I think it’d do pretty well. Its already an agile aircraft that has pretty good (not as good as Gripen) operational costs.
So give it an F414 and support for Sparrow?
The excess power should make more clean electrical power available for electronics, too.
MiG has a logistics problem that gets in the way every time they compete on the market. They need better suppliers.
With the falling dollar you’d think the F-35 would be cheaper for our allies. Who’d thunk.
How many defense industry firms are left? The traditionally over budget companies have traditionally survived at the expense of the ‘modest’ budget-oriented. You’d be solving a great problem across society as a whole if you find the cure. Corporate charters as they work now seem to reward the chronic under-performer, regardless if its management or labor.
If it was Moldova they’d throw the former leader in jail for his costly decision making skills.
The only Russian space shuttle that took off from a runway did so on jet power, not rocket power. Not really anything impressive.
Perhaps they should begin by using the core of the EJ200 in an engine designed for a commercial airliner.
The U.S. does own MiG-29SM’s, MiG-29UB’s, and at least one MiG-29G.
Whomever wrote that explanation of the Maginot Line assumed that definition when in my childhood it meant one of two things. 1) to over plan for something that may never come, or 2) to put forth a needless effort because it ignores the reality of the situation. Sure its purely semantics, but still it had a deeper meaning back then.
I’m still waiting for the answer on why Venezuela would win! I’m not convinced.
Why?
Boeing blew it 5 years ago when they had the contract and got nailed on corruption charges, so that argument is moot.
If they don’t improve the airflow to the engines then it is pointless to upgrade them.
