Shown as part of the London Film Festival,it’s a 5 million dollar advert why the US and it’s allies should get out of Iraq. The montage of still photos of “collateral damage” is horrifying.

To own a wild creature, and however highly bred you can never remove that wildness from them, then to keep it confined for life in the sterile atmosphere of a house? No way.
100% agree. But consider this…Mr Warwick, whilst protecting his own territory, confronts an intruder, who happens to be FIV.Blood and saliva are exchanged, which usually happens in cat fights.Ohh Ohh,he’s now FIV.Are you still gonna let him roam, maybe infecting other cats,or give him the Good Night juice,or provide a safe, entertaining, exiting, adventurous life indoors until FIV really kicks in,and then say “Good Night”.
Ain’t nothing wrong with a cat living indoors,as long as it’s happy (Purrs, puddings, head nudges etc.)

Over here confining a cat, a free spirited, semi-wild animal in a house is seen by most normal people as incredibly cruel.
Not so.Many breeders of “exotic” cats demand them being house-cats.Would you let a £800 cat roam freely these days.I have never seen a Persian, Siamese, etc on the streets in my area.More likely some Chav would be on his toes with it stuffed in his/her hood.Plus,we’re always hearing of the ordinary moggy disappearing into thin air, maybe ending up in a dog fight pen.Now and again the Sunday papers run such stories.
As a responsible owner of a cat that has FIV,he has to be kept indoors,as not to infect other cats,as he was by another.
Have you guys, who let them roam, had your cat checked for FIV recently?

Hi everybody,
i know this thread is about vet bills etc, however, not beeing a cat owner I have a big problem.
The neighbours cats seem to like ‘doing their business’ in my garden!, I have tried absolutley everything to stop them, repellent, ultrasonic, lion poo! etc etc, I have even spoke to neighbours but they FOB me of with excuses. This is costing me a small fortune and I refuse to spend anymore money on this problem!
Any suggestions people?? 🙁
Cats are regarded as free-roaming animals, akin to foxes,badgers,hedge-hogs etc.,which in all probability, will also ‘visit’ your garden.AFAIK there are no laws regarding where they can or can’t do their ‘business’.Unlike dog owners, who are required to ‘clean up’ after their pets.
Just be thankful that you have a garden and put this minor problem down to maintenance 😉 .
Back on topic,my Freddy is un-insureable.He has FIV.To see him,you wouldn’t know there was anything wrong with him.BUT,when the time comes,I will have no hesitation in saying “Good Night” to my flat-mate.

Just saw a great film The Lives of Others about a dedicated East German Stasi agent who after listening in on a suspected dissident writer, starts to protect him.
More political commentary than a “spy” film.
I wonder what those few visitors to this site who seem to have nothing but praise and longing for the late USSR/GDR police state would have to say about it?
WARNING…….this film is German and has sub-titles,so if you’re not prepared to really concentrate on this film, switch off now.
This has been sitting in my “to watch” pile for a couple of weeks but,due to pressure of work etc,I only got round to watch it tonight.
Oh boy, what a film! Made for only 2 million Dollars, which is peanuts by todays standard Hollywood fare,it shows the despair that dictatorship and the totalitarian state bring with it.
It stars Ulrich Muhe, who died of stomach cancer 3 months ago,and was regarded as the German “Tom Hanks” and Martina Gedeck, the German “Meryl Streep”.
When our anti-hero bought the book in the final scene,I had tears on my cheeks.
