Dug deep into the DVD shelf this time and came up with an old favorite and it brought back loadsa memories.Back in 1967,I was managing a hotel bar just off of the Charing Cross Road.A regular customer was the manager of The Odeon.He liked drinking,I liked films,so we came to an arrangement.I slip him a few drinks and I could turn up,with or without friends,and watch any film FOC.Remember,this was back in the days of restricted opening hours (11am till 3pm and 5pm till11pm.).It just so happened that after cashing up for the early shift,all I had to do was walk across the road,give Joan a wave in the Ticket Box,find a seat and see Bonnie And Clyde get shot up for the upteenth time,to this day,still a great “in camera” effect
This would have to be one of my Desert Island Discs.It uses the most natural looking extras ever (every extra looks like a hillbilly),and it’s one of those films where you know they’re in the wrong but your still on their side.

At 11 o’clock this morning,I was in line at The Greenwich Picturehouse to watch a free screening of When Did You Last See Your Father.
It’s a lucky man who can say “I knew my Dad”.Very few of us get that close.
This lovely ‘very British film’ asks “Did you really know him?”
Jim Broadbent plays the ebullient (got that word from the dictionary) father and Colin Firth plays the questioning son,who’s own life isn’t perfect either.
Add to the mix Juliet Stevenson,as the mother of our inquirer,and Sarah Lancashire (an actress I have only seen in a famous TV soap,who really earns her pay-cheque here) as the suspected ‘bit on the side’.
If you like the films made by Mike Leigh,I’m sure this won’t disappoint.

Best known for playing the role of Miss Moneypenny in the older James Bond films..

Lois Maxwell filled Miss Moneypenny’s shoes for 14 of the Bond films and certainly made her mark 🙂 .

take a look at Czech film “Nebeští jezdci”, or “Piloti”, much more better about Czech pilots and airmen in WW2 than this “sweet romance”…

Just watching the Region 4,2 disc Spider-Man 3,which comes in a cracking tin case (along with a SM3 mouse mat).Region 2 comes out on Oct 15th with Region 1 lagging behind with a release date of Oct 30th:eek: .
Loved all 3 pics in this franchise.Anybody know if there’ll be a fourth :rolleyes: .
