Dave (sorry,David) Gilmour-ex Pink Floyd-is on BBC 1 Saturday the 8th of September at 11pm for 60 minutes.They’re gonna show a short version of the eagerly awaited DVD “Remember That Night”,which is released in the UK on Monday the 17th of September and on the 18th in North America 🙂 .

Heads Up……Special 5 disc Bladerunner available for pre-order now.Delivery just in time for Christmas.Looks like a lot of work has gone into this one.Really looking forward to this 😀 .

Went into work Monday night and found out that we’re doing the cover for a double-disc,region 2 release of Ong-bak and Warrior King,both starring the amazing Tony Jaa.
These are “total kick-ass action”films and a must for any “kung fu” film fan.
Well worth putting on your Christmas prezzy list;) .

The Summer Of British Film season at my local Picturehouse is coming to an end,so I caught the “restored” version of The Dam Busters and came away disappointed.
The soundtrack,thankfully,remains mono,and is hiss and click free.At times there was a lip-sync problem (strange,because this was a totally digital presentation).My gripe is with the 2 huge scratch marks in 2 different scenes.In a film billed as “beautifully restored”??????
IMHO they could have done much better (compared to the great restorations of My Fair Lady and Goldfinger).
Still,it was good to see it again,where it belongs……on the big screen:) .

Another 1980s action classic, which I hadn’t seen for years!
I did, however, watch the original released version. The disc I have has the director’s cut version added as well, so I shall give this a spin later on.

The extended cut only adds more blood and gore:D :diablo:
I also have this latest release which includes a DTS soundtrack,BUT,my region 4 copy,which is only Dolby Digital,sounds much better:cool: .

Daz,how dare you impart such dangerous knowledge to such a sensitive person.I have been threatened with a life-time ban for less.I suggest you put a decent case of Chardonnay in the post to placate his wrath:diablo: :rolleyes: 😎 .

300… two-dimensional, whole plot written around a stupendous bunch of onelines best filed under the phrase ‘pathos’, and definately gay. Good visuals though, but then again that’s what happens if you copy Frank Miller’s style to the last blotch of ink.

Unfortunately it takes a real filmmaker like Robert Rodriguez to turn that into a proper film, and not Zack Snyder. A director whose inspiration doesn’t seem to go any further than copying other people’s stories. It worked out OK-ish in Dawn of the Dead, it did not in 300. But i guess there might be nincompoops who dig the overblown quotes and fit guys with shaven chests wearing leather underpants.

A surprising review there Arthur:eek:.When I watched it,I wasn’t looking for,and certainly didn’t see any reference to being made for,or necessarily appealing to,a gay audience.
Male Spartans,from birth,were raised to be fighters,so I expected big pecs and a six-pack.Their fighting reputation was legendary.Did you expect to see an army of Charles Hawtreys ?
There clothing had to be practical…..their nether-regions were,sometimes,wrapped in linen and covered with a protective covering of leather.Leather underpants were invented a few hundred years later:diablo:
I enjoyed this film,which has received a very respectable 8.1 out of 10 rating on IMDB.COM.Click on it to see 1639 other reviews……mostly positive:cool: .

Whilst flicking around the tv channels I stumbled across Michael Ball in The Proms Season on BBC4 so I hit the record button.Why ? Because I had heard that his inclusion in The Proms Season (which is usually regarded as POSH music) ruffled a few feathers amoungst the classical music glitteratie,so settled down to see what all the fuss was about.
What I saw was a guy doing what he enjoyed doing and doing it very well.Singing and entertaining.He sang songs covering opera,musical theatre and pop (this is the first time a Queen song has been sung during a Proms season 😀 ).The paying audience loved it and even gave him a standing ovation at the interval !
Thanks BBC for a very entertaining couple of hours.

Time to slap The Commitment’s soundtrack into the player me-thinks;)
